posted by Oscar February 13, 2017

John Legend has shared the studio version of the Beach Boys classic, “God Only Knows.” Last night, during the Grammys’ “In Memoriam” segment Legend helped pay tribute to the artists that have passed in the last year by performing a live cover of the track along with Cynthia Erivo, delivering a heartfelt rendition.

The studio version has a rich production courtesy of Blake Mills with full string orchestration, which is just as beautiful as how it felt played live at the awards ceremony. Hear it below. Continue Reading

Chance The Rapper Shares Music Video For “Same Drugs,” with Vocals from Eryn Allen Kane and John Legend

posted by Oscar February 6, 2017

Chance The Rapper has released the music video to Coloring Book highlight, “Same Drugs.” One thing that’s also worth noting is that this is an alternate version of the song you hear on the original stream. This version has a more pronounced vocal performance from lady Eryn Allen Kane, and it also features the voices of singers like John Legend, Yebba, Francis Starlite, and Macie Stewart (AKA Mace God to the POD family).

The Jake Schreier-directed clip is worth seeing overall with its portrayal of Chano and the puppets with which he performed at his Magnificent Coloring Day concert/fest at Sox field last year, but it’s the fresh version of the song that helps make it that much more of a can’t-miss.

Chance premiered the visuals earlier today through a broadcast on Facebook Live. Check it out above.

Rae Sremmurd 10

This time last week we were partying it up at showcases that featured a mix of the best veteran stars and some of the most exciting up-and-coming acts on the planet, brought together to play at the iconic annual festival, SXSW.

Much like in previous years, we spread the team out to experience shows from artists of all sorts of genres and we wound up with a healthy mix of acts that we’ve seen perform before, and musicians that we were finally going to see in a live setting. The collection of artists that we saw at SXSW included the likes of John Legend, Rae Sremmurd, Bas, Towkio, The Kills, Vince Staples, Deftones, CHVRCHES, Cozz, Mike Golden, and Mick Jenkins, just to name a few.

After going through literally hundreds of pics, we put together this compilation for ya to peep. Look below to check out our gallery of the Dopest Sights of SXSW 2016. Continue Reading

Video: See Kanye West & John Legend Perform The Original Version of “Gold Digger” in 2003

We all know it’s Yeezy Season again and what better way to enjoy the dopeness in the air than by looking back to where it all began. The clip above shows a young Kanye West performing an earlier version of his hit song “Gold Digger” with John Legend back in 2013.

This performance shows the eventual club hit in a new light, with more simple production as Legend plays a sinister piano part. Take a trip to the past with the clip above.

Video: John Legend + Common – “Glory” (Live at the 2015 Oscars)

Last night the Academy Awards, BKA the Oscars, were held and while the main focus of course are the movies, there were some great music moments as well. John Legend and Common graced the stage together to perform their song “Glory,” off the film Selma. The performance was brilliant and emotive, and it was a worthy showing as it served as the perfect foreshadow for the duo’s eventual victory in the Best Original Song category.

Relive powerful performance above. Legend and Common delivered an acceptance speech worthy of the moment, reflecting the theme of Selma with plenty of nods to political topics. See that below. Continue Reading
