Jack White Shares New Songs “Connected By Love” & “Respect Commander”

posted by Oscar January 10, 2018

Guitar God Jack White has returned! The man behind Third Man Records has announced his follow-up to 2014’s Lazaretto will be entitled Boarding House Reach. Though it lacks a release date, we did get a glimpse of the album as White unveiled two new songs today in “Respect Commander” and “Connected by Love.” The latter premiered on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 show as the World Record.

With both of these tracks it feels like Folky jams are out the window, with the former White Stripes leader adopting a more spacey, Electronica, Prog-Rock vibe. “Respect Commander” feels like White has been jamming to Africa Bambaataa, but he still allows the 6-string hero to shine at the end.

Both tracks are out now as a 7″ vinyl single via Third Man. This Saturday, January 13, limited edition tri-color 7″ will be available at Third Man’s Nashville and Detroit locations.

White has also shared the music video for lead track “Connected by Love,” which was directed by Pasqual Gutierrez. Check that out and stream both tunes below. Continue Reading

Jack White Releases Acoustic Mix of The Raconteurs Song, “Carolina Drama”

posted by Oscar September 1, 2016

Jack White Acoustic Recordings

Jack White has released a fresh cut off his forthcoming album, Acoustic Recordings 1998-2016This time we hear White go to The Raconteurs’ catalog, offering an “Acoustic Mix” of “Carolina Drama.” While the original is a heavy, dirty Blues delight, the acoustic rendition feels so much more gruesome and desolate. The storytelling now seems so much more personal, as if White was more of an onlooker than someone who’s retelling it. It’s spine-tingly goodness!

Beyoncé Releases ‘Lemonade,’ feat. Kendrick Lamar, Jack White, the Weeknd

posted by Oscar April 24, 2016

beyonce lemonade

Beyoncé’s new album Lemonade has finally arrived, premiering via an HBO special of the same name. The album is now available via Columbia/Parkwood and it is streaming exclusively on Tidal. The features include Jack White, The Weekend, James Blake, and Kendrick Lamar. Towards the end of the special, Lemonade is called a “visual album” before the end credits rolled out.

The HBO special is more of a movie experience with amazing, cinematic visuals and spoken word refrains in between each song/video. A lot of the imagery centers around themes like Afro-centrism, sorrow, revenge, and family. If you ever needed an excuse to get HBO, this is it.

Apart from those features, there’s also a healthy amount of samples too. Among those are Led Zeppelin’s “When The Levee Breaks” (“Don’t Hurt Yourself”), Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ “Maps” (“Hold Up”), Father John Misty (“Hold Up”) and Animal Collective’s “My Girls” (“6 Inch”). Co-producers include Vampire Weekend’s Ezra Koenig, Diplo, Mike Will Made It, and Just Blaze.
