Ezra Koenig Beats1

Beats 1 by Apple Music continues to turn heads for all the right reasons with the announcement that Vampire Weekend lead singer Ezra Koenig will host his own show on the network.

Koenig follows the likes of Drake, Pharrell, Run The Jewels, St. Vincent, with his show being called Time Crisis With Ezra Koenig, the name perhaps being a sign of how much of a lack of direction the show may have in its format.

Time Crisis will debut this Sunday (7/12) at 3PM and it will air every other Sunday. Continue Reading

ILoveMakonnen feat. Ezra Koenig + Despot – “Down 4 So Long” (Remix)

posted by Oscar December 21, 2014

Red Bull - 20 Before 15

Bizarre team-ups can be brilliant every now and then. ILoveMakonnen came together with rapper Despot and Vampire Weekend’s Ezra Koenig for a remix of his song “Down 4 So Long.” The re-working of the track was made as part of Red Bull’s 20 Before 15 series, and it’s strange just how good this sounds.

Despot’s part was great, but it’s Koenig who really stands out in this tune as he adapts his cadence to the genre and delivering lines about moving to Monaco for the tax cuts, Mary Kate calling him out for wearing off-brand Ray Bans and meeting Sarkozy.

posted by Oscar August 19, 2014

HAIM’s video for the A$AP Ferg-remixed and -featuring track, “My Song 5” has finally arrived. The concept for this one is of a daytime talk show hosted by SNL standout and Sound Advice star, Vanessa Bayer and its guests includes some cool cameos (some much more minor appearances than others) by the likes of Kesha, Grimes, Ezra Koenig, Big Sean, their parents and even Artemis Pebdani as Artemis (AKA Artemis on It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia).

Chromeo feat. Ezra Koenig – “Ezra’s Interlude”

posted by Oscar April 17, 2014

Chromeo - White Women`The latest song from Chromeo is titled “Ezra’s Interlude” and it fittingly features Vampire Weekend’s Ezra Koenig. The track will appear on the latest album named White Women, available May 12.

The song itself sounds more like a Vampire Weekend track than one by Chromeo thanks to the piano-driven music and relatively straightforward production. It’s a good little ballad nonetheless.

posted by Oscar March 3, 2014

This year’s Academy Awards, more commonly known as the Oscars, celebrated its 86th ceremony held to honor the best of all those involved in every important facet of the film industry in 2013. This year was a particularly different edition of the Oscars as it featured several POD-favorites like the Arcade Fire up for Best Score for the Her score (eventually lost to Gravity) and Pharrell and Karen O were nominated for Best Song (for “Happy” from Despicable Me 2 and “The Moon Song” from Her, respectively; eventually losing to “The Moon Song”). Not only that, but all the nominees in the Best Song category performed throughout the night.

Above you can see Pharrell performing a good rendition of his track and even got to dance with the likes of Lupita Nyong’o (who won Best Supporting Actress) and Amy Adams (Oscar-nominated). Hit the jump to see Karen O (Yeah Yeah Yeahs) and Ezra Koenig (Vampire Weekend) perform “The Moon Song” and U2 performing “Ordinary Love.” Continue Reading

Ezra Koenig (Vampire Weekend) Reviews Drake’s ‘Nothing Was The Same’

posted by Oscar October 9, 2013

Drake - Nothing Was The Same

Although we didn’t get to review it,  one person that did take the time to check out and review the latest effort from Drake, Nothing Was The Same, was none other than Vampire Weekend’s lead singer Ezra Koenig.

The Indie Rock God of the 21st Century put himself to the task of writing the review for The Talkhouse and it turns out he gave the album an equivalent of a Macho Man on our Dopeness Factor, even though he didn’t listen to it in its entirety. Read an excerpt below. Continue Reading
