Video: See Drake and Will Ferrell as Handshake Coaches for NBA Awards Sketch

posted by Oscar June 27, 2017

Last night saw the inaugural NBA Awards, which saw Drake host a night celebrating the best of the premier basketball league in the world. Drizzy showed off his comedy chops not only with his opening monologue, but he also participated in a couple of sketches that proved the Canadian rapper got plenty more to offer in the comedy realm beyond “Hotline Bling” memes. The highlight sketch featured Drake and Will Ferrell school some ball players, which included DeMar DeRozan, how to properly react to your team making clutch shots! “The Jenga,” “The Gossip Queen,” and “The Prom” are all fire celebrations that we’re expecting (/hoping) to see this upcoming NBA season. The Obi-Wan might be a stretch tho… See that above.

You can also check out an extras clip with other handshake celebration like the helicopter” and the “Lavar Ball” that are dope, plus a Get Out sketch and a press conference one below. Continue Reading

As bipolar as Chicago weather might be, the vibes from POD stay consistent. So here’s a playlist that’ll getcha through the storm.

The playlist consists of multiple artists/tracks, old & new, to vibe with on any rainy  occasion really.  Of course all of 6lack’s album had to be on there, with some throwback Travis Scott, and a lot more to check out. In addition, recruitment of Supa Bwe’s unique flow was a no brainer, with a good amount of Isaiah Rashad to finish it off. But you’ll just have to check it out yourself.

So kick back and listen below:

Behind The Beat: Best Hip-Hop Samples of 2016

posted by Luis Hernandez December 20, 2016

Samples have always been the foundation of hip-hop since the beginning, from a Dj scratching different songs together to producers flipping a beat over for a hit single. Through each year its interesting to see how producers continue to evolve and dig up never before used samples for a memorable song. 2016 was no different, as many producers found diamonds in rough, creating hits that will be played for years. Here’s my list of my favorite samples used in 2016:

Underrated Stars Of 2016: Skepta

posted by Luis Hernandez December 15, 2016

While many of us were amazed with the success of the independent phenom Chance the Rapper, there was one artist making similar historical moves overseas. It was Skepta, an independent artist from England, creating waves never before seen in British hip-hop. Skepta has been around for a minute making music since 2007, however, 2016 was the breakout moment for the rapper. Skepta is the kingpin of the grime music, which combines many different genres from reggae to dancehall, over high levels of bass and drums, rarely seen inside America. Aside from the ridiculous beats, the insanity of grime lies in the schizophrenic rhyming over each song, switching up flows at extremely fast rates, alongside dropping some crazy bars.

posted by Oscar November 22, 2016

Chance The Rapper is currently across the pond for Magnificent Coloring World Tour and during his stop in the UK, he appeared on today’s episode of BBC Radio 1Xtra. During his session on 1Xtra Live Lounge for Trevor Nelson’s show, Chano and his band The Social Experiment played Coloring Book stand-out track “All We Got” and a cover of Drake’s “Feel No Ways.”

During their performance of Kanye West collab “All We Got,” Chance sent out a prayer in response to Kanye’s hospitalization yesterday. The fellow Chicago rapper said:

“I want to extend a very special prayer to my big brother, Kanye West. I know there’s a lot of weird folks out there but you already know that I’m a hundred grand… I want to just extend this prayer and this love from all the way in Britain. We might come home early to see this man. Happy Thanksgiving.

Video: Future feat. Drake – “Used to This”

posted by Oscar November 4, 2016

For their latest collab video, Future and Drake come together on the soccer pitch to command their respective teams of ladies in the visuals for their new song “Used To This.” Perhaps the icing on the cake here is not only seeing both squads in Mexico jerseys, but we also get to see both leading men sporting our motherland’s home and away kits too!

Needless to say, this video is better suited for viewing away from your cubicle! Watch it above.
