Governors Ball 2016

Festival lineup announcement season is upon us and now that its NYC’s Governors Ball have unveiled their 2016 roster, it’s getting really hard to argue which lineup is better, this one or Coachella’s

The big news is that the festival to be held at Randall’s Island Park June 3-5 will be headlined by Kanye West AND The Strokes. Two of the biggest acts since the turn of the century!! Also on the lineup are The Killers, Beck, Death Cab For Cutie, HAIM, Father John Misty, Bloc Party, Miguel, Big Grams, Action Bronson, Mac Miller, Joey Bada$$, Eagles Of Death Metal, De La Soul, Vince Staples, and Vic Mensa. De La Soul Nas God It

Rap gawds featuring rap gawd…. De La Soul have connected with Nas for a new track “God It.” The rap group is working on a new crowdfunded album album and this tune is an excerpt of what they’ve been cooking up in the studio.

The legendary MCs had this to say of this new track with Nas:

While busy at work, we also like to play! This song is not from the new album, but an indication of the good music to come… Just a little appetizer until we complete the main course. You may recognize our featured guest. Enjoy.

De La Soul feat. Chuck D – “The People”

De La Soul - The People

Legendary Hip Hop figures De La Soul and Chuck D connected for the former’s new track “The People.” The classic rappers crafted a powerful, socially-conscious tune and it was only right to have on-hand the Public Enemy frontman to add his profound voice.

From what I can hear, the beat is an Afrika Bambaataa sample and there’s even a line sung from MJ.

As Rolling Stone points out, it coincidentally doubles as a protest anthem in response to the events going down in Ferguson. Hear it below. Continue Reading
