Club América 2015-16 Home & Away Kits, by Nike

posted by Oscar July 24, 2015

For the 2015-16 season Mexico giants Club América will be wearing a Home kit in pale yellow once again and this time it’s designed paying homage to the 50th anniversary of its 1965-66 league championship, referencing the uniform worn during the historic victory. Last season’s collar is substituted for a modern V-neck collar trimmed at the back with a red and navy blue band.

The away shirt is light blue at the top and transitions to a darker shade toward the hem. This design was included as a reference  to the club’s reputation for nurturing young talent at its academy named El Nido (the Nest) via a feather graphic that recalls the club’s mascot, an eagle.

The Mexico City club unveiled the new uniforms this week with a little help from former SI Swimsuit Issue model Ana Beatriz Barros. Not a bad pull…

The new kits are available July 22 on the Nike Football App and July 23 at select Nike retailers. See more pictures of the new kits below. Continue Reading

Club America 2014-15 Home & Away Kits, by Nike

Club America 2014-15 Home Kit 1

One of the most storied teams in Mexican soccer, Club America, have unveiled their new Home and Away Kits for the forthcoming 2014-15 and they are some real beauties. The home kit returns to the original colors that América wore in its founding years starting in 1916, a “creamy” yellow that lead to the team being nicknamed “azulcremas” (cream and blues). The shirt also sports a polo collar and the logo is featured prominently with the updated color scheme on the heart of the shirt to complete the vintage look. A blue pennant tab inside the back of the neck has a large yellow eagle to represent Club America’s nickname “Las Águilas” (The Eagles).

The away shirt is in dark blue with a crew neck design and creamy yellow cuffs, club crest and Nike swoosh. Inside the back of the neck is a pale yellow pennant tab with the defiant statement: “Ódiame Más” (Hate me more), their signature tagline in recent years that represents the “playful sentiment Club America players and supporters feel towards rivals envious of their status as one of Mexico’s biggest and most successful clubs.” As a die-hard, life-long fan of Club América, I couldn’t love this more.

The new home and away kit will be available at Nike Stores and other retailers on July 31. Continue Reading
