Broken Bells feat. Ringo Starr – “And I Love Her” (Live on ‘Letterman’)

posted by Oscar February 4, 2014

Broken Bells are taking part of this week’s Late Show with David Letterman tribute to celebrate reaching the 50 years mark of The Beatles first arriving in America, and their cover was the ballad, “And I Love Her.” The cover featured old footage of Beatles-era Ring Starr to provide the drum part while the duo performed the rest of the instrumentation and vocals.

Danger Mouse held it down on the keys while James Mercer’s vocals were warm and emotive, staying true to the song lyrics and Paul’s original. The addition of those few seconds-long sample of “I Am The Walrus” was the icing on the cake.
