Video: Lenny Kravitz: “Get Back” (Live on ‘Letterman’)

Continuing  “Beatles Tribute Week” at Late Show with David Letterman, Lenny Kravitz was the next one up to play a Beatles cover at the historic Ed Sullivan Theater. Kravitz played the closing number from Let It Be, the last full studio release from the band. While the cover stayed true to the original, this version felt fresh and definitely worked, especially thanks to Paul Shaffer’s organ work sounding every bit as good as Billy Preston’s original.

Video: Sting feat. Ivy Levan – “Drive My Car” (Live on ‘Letterman’)

For the second night of  “Beatles Tribute Week” at Late Show with David Letterman, Sting called on guests Ivy Levan and Mike Einsinger to help him perform “Drive My Car.” The original number, as heard on Rubber Soul, helped define the path that Rock would take in the second half of the ’60s and their cover was a straight-on rendition. While not an imaginative cover like Monday’s Broken Bells cover of “And I Love Her” and the vocals were “OK,” the music makes it worth a view. See it above.
