See Behind the Scenes of the Making of Chance The Rapper’s Video for “Angels” feat. Saba

posted by Oscar April 12, 2016

The “Angels” video instantly became one of our favorite clips in recent memory thanks to its cinematic production, Ian Eastwood’s continuously eye-catching choreography, and Chance The Rapper transforming into the Flyboy goggle-wearing superhero Chi city deserves.

To keep the momentum going, videographer YAKUB films (Jake Linde) has shared a behind the scenes video he shot on the making of the music video. The clip details a lot of the scenes that Austin Vesely directed, showing us how the green screen portion was shot and proving that Chance did indeed find himself on top of a CTA train car to tour the Loop.

See the behind-the-scenes video above and head over to the RedEye to peep the photo gallery.

Video: Neko Case – “Man” (Dir. Austin Vesely)

posted by Oscar January 11, 2016

Neko Case has shared her new visuals for “Man,” a song originally appearing on her 2013 album The Worse Things Get, the Harder I Fight, the Harder I Fight, the More I Love You. In this Austin Vesely-directed clip we see Neko rocking on guitar while her hair and body house a rapid-fire slideshow of bizarre patterns and images, as some badass kids jam out around her.

And shout out to our boy Austin for continuing to do some fine, fine work and for lending his vision to some equally cool artists.

Video: Kehlani feat. Chance The Rapper – “The Way”

posted by Oscar July 27, 2015

Our favorite rising songstress Kehlani has dropped her video for her Jahaan Sweet-produced single “The Way,” which features the homie Chance The Rapper. The black and white visuals were directed by Austin Vesely, and it’s just plain fire. The choreography isn’t crazy elaborate or complex, but its extra smooth and downright sensual in the best way possible while Chano and Kehlani show off their crazy good chemistry.

Props to Mr. Vesely once more for yet another fantastic music video.

Austin Vesely Announces Chance The Rapper is Starring in ‘Slice’

posted by Oscar June 25, 2015

Chance The Rapper Slice

Our boy Austin Vesely has been consistently talking about his forthcoming debut feature film Slice on Twitter but details were kept on the hush, that is until he dropped a major bomb on us all today. Austin has announced that his Comedy will be starring Chance The Rapper, taking this long-time artistic partnership to the next level.

The imdb page says about the movie:

When a pizza delivery driver is murdered on the job, the city searches for someone to blame: ghosts? drug dealers? a disgraced werewolf?

Knowing Vesely and the work he’s capable of this was already a feature we wanted to see, but now that Chano’s also involved it’s looking that much better.

Video: Watch An Overhead View of Chance The Rapper’s “Sunday Candy”

posted by Alberto June 5, 2015

Chance The Rapper and The Social Experiment’s “Sunday Candy” video is arguably one of the best videos of the year and a few moments ago, Austin Vesely let loose an overhead view of the creation of the video. Very dope to see all the people involved putting in work for this one-shot video.

Check out the behind the scenes look at “Sunday Candy” above.

Video: Eryn Allen Kane – “Have Mercy”

posted by Oscar April 29, 2015

If you ever needed to know what “beauty” sounds like, it’s this song by Eryn Allen Kane. The amazing singer connected with POD favorite Austin Vesely for her music video to “Have Mercy.” This song, which is debuting along with the video, has the perfect set of visuals to accompany these spine-tingling Soulful vocals. I must also point out just how ingenious it was to use a lightbulb as the mic, making EA Kane’s voice deliver the brightness to the black-and-white setting we see her in (also, it just looks cool).

There’s genius in minimalism, and this is yet another excellent example of that.

Video: Chance The Rapper/The Social Experiment Short Film – ‘SoXDay’ Dir. by Austin Vesely

posted by Oscar December 3, 2014

Happy SoXDay!

Our dude Austin Vesely connected once more with Chicago Great Chance The Rapper for SoXDay, a short film chronicling what it’s like to be on tour with Chano and his band the Social Experiment. Here we get to see all that goes on for the 23 hours in the day when they’re not on stage.

The backing act consists of Donnie Trumpet, Peter Cottontale, Stix, Nate Fox(‘s back) and Macie Stewart. It’s cool seeing Chance work with the crew as they prepare the lighting for the show as well as his commanding toast for his tour manager, but it’s the comedic parts, like the “TMZ moment” and the post-show conference, that make this entertaining.

The concert footage is particularly jarring though; the view from the stage and onto the crowd was an awesome reminder of just how much he’s grown in his still very short, ongoing career.

This only helps build the anticipation for Surf; coming soon. Shout-out to AV!
