posted by Oscar March 25, 2016

The Last Shadow Puppets are gearing towards the release of their latest project Everything You’ve Come to Expect, and last night they kicked off their tour with a show in Cambridge, England.

The setlist featured something more for fans to take away from the show… That being a live cover from Alex Turner and Miles Kane of The Beatles’ Abbey Road tune “I Want You (She’s So Heavy).”

Peep that scorching rendition above via Live Nation TV.

Alex Turner, of the Arctic Monkeys, and Miles Kane’s new collaborative project as The Last Shadow Puppets are slowly but steadily unveiling their new album Everything You’ve Come to Expect and today they have delivered a new song and its accompanying video.

The latest track is titled “Aviation” comes just a week after they dropped the album’s title track, and these visuals function as somewhat of a sequel to the foundation laid on “Everything You’ve Come to Expect.” Check out the clip above, and look before the tracklist on the new album. Video: The Last Shadow Puppets – “Bad Habits”

posted by Oscar January 10, 2016

The wait for the return of The Last Shadow Puppets, Alex Turner (Arctic Monkeys) and Miles Kane, is finally over. The band had teased their return and tonight they make it official with the release of new song “Bad Habits” and its accompanying video.

The song has this slinky, groovy bassline that’s paired with a brash strings arrangement and together they slither into your brain to take you on one wild ride. The video was directed by Ben Chappell; see it above.

“Bad Habits” is surely just our first taste of what’s to come from this pair, as they will be performing at Coachella this Spring.

Josh Homme Interviews Alex Turner For His Beats 1 Radio Show

posted by Oscar July 30, 2015

Josh Homme Alex Turner

Josh Homme, frontman of Queens Of The Stone Age, has a Beats 1 Radio show on Apple and on the latest episode of the so-called “The Alligator Hour with Josh Homme,” Homme’s special guest was none other than Alex Turner. The Arctic Monkeys lead singer was introduced to the show at about the 30:18 mark as an “origami teacher, hand model, and international Monopoly champion.”

Fast forward to the 39:00 mark, after playing some tunes the pair begin talking about names for bars (The Dumb Fox, Pre-Hab, Alternative Endings), before hitting on the subject of crafting songs and we hear about how Turner doesn’t typically write lyrics when he’s recording a song.

Listen to the whole episode on Apple Music.

For the final post of our year-end list series we name the Dopest Live Shows of 2014. The best thing about making this list is that we get to look back at the year that was and have it serve as a little reminder that we got to experience some excellent concerts. Much like every year since we’ve been in existence, we largely attended shows in our home city of Chicago, but this 2K14 we had the chance to attend a couple of festivals in cities like Austin, Minneapolis and NYC, that wound up being some of the best experiences ever.

From club gigs to world-renowned major festivals, here are the Dopest Live Shows of 2014. Continue Reading

Dopest Videos - 2014

Next up for our “Dopest of…” series is our music videos list. The art of creating visuals to music may not be as appreciated as it once was (you can draw parallels with TRL’s last years of relevancy), but at least the quality hasn’t suffered from it. This list showcases everything we dug in 2014, highlighting everything from throwback choreography routines to visuals that can double as Horror short films.

Arctic Monkeys Live at Lollapalooza 2014

posted by Oscar August 2, 2014

Is there any band in the world bigger than Arctic Monkeys these days? Most likely not. So there was no doubt in my mind about who to see close out Day 1 at Lollapalooza this year when I saw the Brits headlining along with Hip Hop legend, Eminem. My respects to Em, but with the release of AM, Arctic Monkeys have a whole new live set with new songs that weren’t heard live in previous appearances so this performance was very, very different from their 2011 Lolla show and it was a can’t miss for long-time and new fans alike.

The band opened with “Do I Wanna Know?” (above) and the crowd was instantly under Alex Turner’s spell for the remaining hour and a half of their set. The set list was heavy on AM with tracks like “Arabella,” ” plus classics like “I Bet That You Look Good On The Dance Floor,” “Fluorescent Adolescent,” and “505.” See “Why’d You Only Call Me When You’re High?” below.
