Continuing with our year-end lists, the second compilation we tackled focused on our favorite albums of the year. Instead of considering all full-length releases, we’ve separated albums and mixtapes into two different categories  so this list will focus on the more traditionally-inclined records and next week we’ll be announcing our list of favorite mixtapes. Some of our favorite releases include the return of Arcade Fire and the most anticipated record of the year, Kanye’s Yeezus. Again, this consists of our Top 12 releases but it is not a ranked list.

Video: Arctic Monkeys – “One For The Road”

Arctic Monkeys have released their new music video for the song “One For The Road” from their latest album, AM. The black-and-white visuals mostly focuses on guitarist Jamie Cook going from tractor to tractor and random slo-mo shots of the band out in the country until it’s time for the guitar solo, and that’s when it turns into a good ol’ fashion cool music video complete with fireworks, models and all.

Album Review: Arctic Monkeys – ‘AM’

Arctic Monkeys - AM

The Arctic Monkeys’ first album, Whatever People Say I am, That’s What I’m Not, is pure 2kRock awesomeness and it made them one of my favorite modern bands. Now “the Monkeys” are releasing their 5th studio album, AM, and it’s sounding like a proper new effort. In interviews prior to this release, lead singer Alex Turner revealed that the new album was inspired by Black Sabbath and Dr. Dre. At first glance, it’s easy to notice the influence of the Godfathers of Metal, but Dre’s signature sound is a tad bit more difficult to hear. Overall, AM, delivers a great package that reminds us that Rock is not completely dead. Continue Reading
