Video: Behind The Scenes at Arcade Fire’s ‘Reflektor Tour’

posted by Oscar April 28, 2014

Arcade Fire’s Reflektor Tour is, without a doubt, one of the most-talked about live shows in the world as it’s slowly but surely demonstrated the Canadian band has become one of the most important acts making music today. Vevo has put together a behind the scenes look at the tour for the latest edition of their Vevo Tour Exposed series. Bobbleheads, Reflektor suits, mariachis, fan costumes and everything in between make the cut here.

Band members Will Butler and Reed Perry talk about making “an arena feel like a club” and calling their tour production approach to that of seeing a “tightrope walker who’s had a couple of Scotches.”

Video: Arcade Fire – “Roll Over Beethoven” (Live) [Chuck Berry Cover]

posted by Oscar April 28, 2014

Arcade Fire’s Reflektor Tour is, perhaps, best known these days for the band’s custom of covering songs by local heroes to pay tribute to whatever city they’re performing in. During their stop in St. Louis, MO the Canadian Art-Rockers covered the legendary Chuck Berry and his iconic pioneering song, “Roll Over Beethoven.” It was not only a great cover, but it worked well with the party, dance vibe the band gives off as of late. See that performance above.

The night before, in Kansas City, the band performed “Dust In The Wind.” It was a good cover, but I couldn’t help but yell out (in my head) “you’re my boy, blue!” the second they started singing in this video. See that below. Continue Reading

Video: Arcade Fire – “Motownphilly” (Boyz II Men Cover) live in Philadelphia

During the Philadelphia, PA stop of the Arcade Fire’s Reflektor Tour, the Montreal band played a live cover of Boyz II Men’s “Motownphilly.” AF are showing they have a knack of doing live covers specially catered to the cities they’re playing in and this cover sure does justice to the early-90’s R&B Philly sensations.

Dopest Albums of 2013

posted by Oscar December 12, 2013

Continuing with our year-end lists, the second compilation we tackled focused on our favorite albums of the year. Instead of considering all full-length releases, we’ve separated albums and mixtapes into two different categories  so this list will focus on the more traditionally-inclined records and next week we’ll be announcing our list of favorite mixtapes. Some of our favorite releases include the return of Arcade Fire and the most anticipated record of the year, Kanye’s Yeezus. Again, this consists of our Top 12 releases but it is not a ranked list.

Arcade Fire are making the rounds nowadays helping promote their latest album, Reflektor, and yesterday the Canadian band took over France’s Le Grand Journal to play an awesome 3-song set. The songs were “Joan Of Arc” (shown above), “Afterlife” and the album’s title track.

The band rocked some awesome masks and sounded sharp and ready for their upcoming tour of N.A. I’ve got my ticket and after seeing these performances, I can’t help get pumped for their Chicago concert. See the other clips below. Continue Reading

Video: Arcade Fire – “Afterlife”

posted by Oscar November 21, 2013

Arcade Fire, working with The Creators Project (Intel & Vice collabo.), have released their video for their song “Afterlife.” Written and directed by Emily Kai Bock the visuals feature a bit of a cinematic finish to it, telling the story of a Latin, single father family dealing with their loneliness. The song provides a perfect score for the scenes showing each character’s thoughts and dreams of being somewhere else.

It’s a beautiful video, to say the least. See it above.

Montreal’s Arcade Fire are continuing their promotional run for their latest album, Reflektor, and today we see their latest TV performance… The band was on the German show called Circus Halligalli (which I think is a cool name, but then again I don’t speak/read German) and performed their track “Afterlife.”

Arcade Fire (The Reflektors?) have debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Charts. The indie giants’ Reflektor debuted at the top of the charts by selling 140,000 copies during its first week on sale. This was the first album for AF (previously only through Merge Records) that held major distribution through  Universal and Capitol Records handling radio promotion.

Their last album, The Suburbs, also debuted at No. 1 after selling 156K copies in its first week on sale.

In other chart news, Eminem’s “The Monster” (feat. Rihanna) scored 373K downloads, beating Miley Cyrus’ title for ’13 singles.

All in all, it’s been a good week for POD favorites.
