Recap: Arcade Fire – ‘Reflektor Tour’ Chicago

posted by Oscar August 28, 2014

Those of you that have seen the Arcade Fire during their current Reflektor Tour are some of the lucky few to witness a band put on a show that cements their place among the top acts in the world today.

It’s hard not to sound like a fanboy when recapping/reviewing a performance by a band that you are a huge fan of, but when you see a talented band do what they do best and doing so at a show in support of one of their greatest albums to date, they deserve all the accolades headed their way.  Continue Reading

Arcade Fire’s Reflektor Tour will forever be remembered for the band’s inclusion of geographically-relevant live tributes wherever they play and the latest took place in Washington DC where they played another local favorite. The Canadian group took on Fugazi’s “Waiting Room” and even brought out the Barack Obama bobble head to join them onstage for the performance. Talk about “DC”!

Video: Arcade Fire – “You Already Know”

posted by Oscar August 14, 2014

The latest track from the Arcade Fire to receive the music video treatment is another Reflektor standout, “You Already Know.” They skip past the HD and go right for slightly-better-than-VHS-quality video shot with a handheld camera (shot and directed by lead singer, Win Butler) as the band performs the track in a big living room with walls covered with artwork. The artwork isn’t just there for decoration; they’re all mic’ed up and given guitars to take part in the performance. I dig the concept.

The latest live cover that the Arcade Fire have done during the Reflektor Tour took place last night at The Gorge in George, WA and it was a tribute to very familiar local… The Canadians semi-covered Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit” by performing lines from the iconic song during the intro and outro of their performance of The Suburbs track, “Rococo.”

Arcade Fire’s Reflektor Tour has been well-known for its inclusion of live covers and the latest took place at the Santa Barbara Bowl. There the Canadian band played a Punk staple in the Dead Kennedys’ “California Über Alles,” proving once more that this little part of the show is always something to look forward to a la the chalkboard gag on the opener for The Simpsons.

Arcade Fire’s Reflektor Tour has been filled with all sorts of interesting covers of hits spanning many different generations and the latest took place at the Forum out in LA, and it was a mini rendition of the intros to Jane’s Addiction’s “Been Caught Stealing” and Guns N’ Roses’ “Welcome to the Jungle” before going their own track, “Here Comes the Night Time.” Check it out above.

Video: Behind The Scenes at Arcade Fire’s ‘Reflektor Tour’

posted by Oscar April 28, 2014

Arcade Fire’s Reflektor Tour is, without a doubt, one of the most-talked about live shows in the world as it’s slowly but surely demonstrated the Canadian band has become one of the most important acts making music today. Vevo has put together a behind the scenes look at the tour for the latest edition of their Vevo Tour Exposed series. Bobbleheads, Reflektor suits, mariachis, fan costumes and everything in between make the cut here.

Band members Will Butler and Reed Perry talk about making “an arena feel like a club” and calling their tour production approach to that of seeing a “tightrope walker who’s had a couple of Scotches.”

Video: Arcade Fire – “Roll Over Beethoven” (Live) [Chuck Berry Cover]

posted by Oscar April 28, 2014

Arcade Fire’s Reflektor Tour is, perhaps, best known these days for the band’s custom of covering songs by local heroes to pay tribute to whatever city they’re performing in. During their stop in St. Louis, MO the Canadian Art-Rockers covered the legendary Chuck Berry and his iconic pioneering song, “Roll Over Beethoven.” It was not only a great cover, but it worked well with the party, dance vibe the band gives off as of late. See that performance above.

The night before, in Kansas City, the band performed “Dust In The Wind.” It was a good cover, but I couldn’t help but yell out (in my head) “you’re my boy, blue!” the second they started singing in this video. See that below. Continue Reading

Video: Arcade Fire – “Motownphilly” (Boyz II Men Cover) live in Philadelphia

During the Philadelphia, PA stop of the Arcade Fire’s Reflektor Tour, the Montreal band played a live cover of Boyz II Men’s “Motownphilly.” AF are showing they have a knack of doing live covers specially catered to the cities they’re playing in and this cover sure does justice to the early-90’s R&B Philly sensations.
