SXSW is quickly becoming one of our favorite music festivals thanks to all the artists, genres, and industry players that hit Austin, TX for a week every year. For our second time down in ATX for this great festival, we saw shows from artists we know from Chicago like ShowYouSuck and Marrow, mainstream acts like Earl Sweatshirt and Future, to acts we’d never heard of before but genuinely enjoyed discovering like Chocolate Tiger and others. 2014 has already been busy year for Chicago’s Alex Wiley with the announcement of his new Village Party Mixtape with last month’s release of “Own Man” and the news that he’s a finalist for the XXL Freshman Cover. Before heading out to Austin, TX for SXSW, Closed Sessions has released a documentary that show’s how Wiley linked up with Mick Jenkins to put together “Own Man.” The mini-doc examines their approach to the song and Wiley’s goal to make his listeners feel like they really know him.
