The track list reveals we can expect to hear 16 tunes, while artists like Hannibal Buress, Travis Barker (Blink-182), HXLT, A-Trak, Syd (The Internet), and others feature on the album.

A-Trak Announces 1st Annual DJ & Beat Battle: the Goldie Awards; Diplo, Just Blaze will Judge

posted by Oscar June 6, 2017

Fool’s Gold Records founder A-Trak has announced the first annual Goldie Awards, a new DJ & beat-making competition that celebrates the best there is in the art form. The battle comes thanks to a partnership between Fool’s Gold, TMWRK, THUMP and Noisey.

With the Goldie Awards, A-Trak introduces a modern take on the competitions that gave him his start. He himself has won a record-breaking five World DJ Championships, so it makes sense for him to want to champion others in the game.

In a press release about the competition, A-Trak said: “Nowadays DJs and producers are bigger than ever. But there’s no championship that celebrates how important and relevant they’ve become. That’s why I created Goldie Awards: a DJ and beat battle adapted to what these art forms represent today.

Starting today, applicants can submit videos online, on Instagram and YouTube with the hashtag #GOLDIEAWARDS to be considered for either the Beat Battle or DJ Battle. After these social media-driven preliminaries, six DJs and six producers will be chosen for the final showdown. The twelve contestants will get their chance to be discovered at the first ever Goldie Awards show on September 7th at Brooklyn Steel in NYC, hosted by Dave East. They will be judged on technical skill and creativity by a panel of modern DJ legends Diplo, Mannie Fresh, Mija, Just Blaze, Craze, Destructo and The Whooligan.

Open to the public, Goldie Awards will be a first-of-its-kind party to see some of the best names in electronic music discuss their craft and showcase new talent. If you’re looking to flex your skills you can apply now at GOLDIEAWARDS.COM. Tickets will be available starting this Friday, June 9th; link below. Continue Reading

north-coast-music-festival

This year we were lucky enough to attend North Coast Music Festival and we got to see some excellent acts perform between Aug. 30 – Sep. 1. While we’re best known for taking footage at the shows we attend, given that we were given media passes to attend the fest, we decided to not violate those conditions and simply took pictures of the acts we saw throughout this Labor Day weekend.

Read a recap and see some pictures of all that we saw at North Coast Music Festival ’13. *All pictures were taken by Pursuit Of Dopeness. Continue Reading
