Video: At The Drive In – “Call Broken Arrow”

posted by Oscar August 14, 2017

At The Drive In have shared their new video “Call Broken Arrow,” directed by Rob Shaw. The visual works as the prequel to the video for “Hostage Stamps.” Using the same intricate mix of digital and stop-motion animation, the video for “Call Broken Arrow” gives viewers a closer look behind the man’s reason for imprisonment, as Rob Shaw explains:

“In ‘Hostage Stamps,’ we have a prisoner being tortured and monitored by some sort of authoritarian organization. The guys wanted to show why he was imprisoned, as well as cast doubt over his innocence. It’s funny how in stories, especially film stories, you tend to sympathize with whoever you spend time with. When you watch someone being mistreated, the assumption is that person is the victim. ‘Call Broken Arrow’ is in part about illustrating the prisoner’s culpability, but even that is in doubt as we see the Watcher character who follows him around slipping something in his drink at the end.”

Queens Of The Stone Age Unleash New Single “The Evil Has Landed”

posted by Oscar August 10, 2017

Queens Of The Stone Age have shared their newest single, “The Evil Has Landed.” The track is the latest cut from forthcoming album Villains, which was produced by Mark Ronson and co-produced by Mark Rankin and mixed by Alan Moulder.

“The Evil Has Landed” is a builder, starting off with this fantastically-distorted riff that brings to mind that “good ol’, American Rock & Roll” kind of swagger, which finally gives way to this killer, pacey finale that packs a Punk-tinged punch. This seriously kicks so much ass!

The song was unleashed with a premiere this morning as Zane Lowe’s World Record on Lowe’s Beats 1 show. Hear “The Evil Has Landed” below. Continue Reading

Liam Gallagher Covers British GQ

posted by Oscar August 8, 2017

Liam Gallagher has landed the cover story on the latest issue of British GQ. In the interview, the former Oasis star opened up about his forthcoming solo debut As You Were, living the “whole cliché: the sex, the drugs, the rock’n’roll” lifestyle, and his children’s musical interests steering more towards Grime.

Expanding on the taste in music of his children, he left a memorable quote in “My kids fucking love grime music… Stormzy, Skepta—he seems pretty mad. I like him,” followed by “They also like that bloke, WhatsApp Ricky. You know, the American geezer, stylish, funny, gold teeth.” When the interviewer asks him if he means A$AP Rocky, Gallagher responds, “Oh yeah, that’s the fella. WhatsApp Ricky. That’s a better fucking name anyway.” He also called out Dave Grohl for ruining it for everyone in the game after touring despite his broken leg so everyone has to show that kind of strength.

Get the Liam Gallagher issue of British GQ on Thursday 3 August.

Liam will be on tour in North America this coming November, see the dates here.
