The Boy Illinois – “I’m Home” (Koto Freestyle)

posted by Alex March 23, 2017

When Illi speaks, we listen. He’s here to take the crown back from all of the trendy rappers who come and go. At the end of the day, Illi is still standing. Honestly, I would of liked a milk carton with a “Missing Rappers” sign on it, but I see what he did here with the planet Sirius. Anyways, The Boy Illinois has really been making a name for himself as he’s been featured on various media outlets recently. He’s also got a performance lined up for this summer’s Taste of Chicago, so make sure you’re present for the food and the show! Take a listen to “I’m Home” (Koto Freestyle) below.

Yung Dutch- “Sirens”

posted by Miguelini March 22, 2017

Tonight, I am proud to present to you the latest from Yung Dutch, a newer rapper from Chicago who is ready to start making waves on the scene. While I have to admit I hadn’t heard much of his work before, this Lowkey produced track is an absolute slapper. I assure you that the louder you play it in your speakers, the harder you will find yourself gritting your teeth. The production is really admirable and Dutcho doesn’t let it go to waste, matching the energy with plenty of gritty bars. If you have found yourself looking for something new to blast in the whip, look no further and press play below! Also make sure to give Yung Dutch a follow on Twitter here: @onmayyy_ and follow him on Soundcloud to stay tuned for future releases!

Random Artist Fact: He does all his own track artwork!

Black Lips Announce Sean Lennon-Produced New Album; Share New Track

posted by Oscar March 22, 2017

Punk rockers Black Lips have shared the news that they will be releasing their first album in three years. The band’s latest project is titled Satan’s graffiti or God’s art?, due out May 5 on Vice Records, and it was produced by Sean Lennon.

Founding members Cole Alexander and Jared Swilley wanted to get back to their DIY roots so they isolated themselves from the outside world during the recording sessions, and for that they teamed up again with former guitarist Jack Hines (who played in the group from 2002-2004) and recent additions Oakley Munson on drums and Zumi Rosow on saxophone. Some of the features include Saul Adamczewski of Fat White Family and guest vocals by Yoko Ono.

The band also shared the first cut from the new album; hit the jump to hear “Can’t Hold On” and find the album cover art and tracklist. Continue Reading

Lollapalooza 2017 Lineup Features Chance The Rapper, Arcade Fire, Blink-182, Big Sean & more

posted by Oscar March 22, 2017

It’s heeeeeere!! The Lollapalooza lineup has arrived in the early, early hours of the morning (6am tho?!) and less than one day after 4-day passes sold out, we find out who’s playing Grant Park between August 3-6.

Chance all but confirmed his inclusion yesterday, but now we come to learn that young Chance The Rapper is actually the first name on this year’s lineup! Joining him to headline the storied festival are Arcade Fire, Muse, Blink-182, Cage The Elephant, Lorde, Run The Jewels, Alt-J, Big Sean, and The Shins.

But as with every year, it’s not just about the headliners!! Some of the other dope names that this year’s roster has to offer are other POD favorites like Migos, Spoon, Kaytranada, Ryan Adams, Phantogram, Mac DeMarco, Royal Blood, Highly Suspect, Aminé, Joey Bada$$, Charli XCX, Sampha, and Maggie Rogers.

Along with Chano, the Chicago presence on this lineup is also quite dope. This year we can catch acts that we fully endorse like Whitney, Noname, The O’My’s, Kweku Collins, and The Walters as the hometown highlights.

At the time of publication, you can still purchase single-day tickets on the Lollapalooza website.

See the lineup in the poster above or listed below. Continue Reading
