Chicago Fire Unveil 2018 Primary Kit

posted by Oscar February 6, 2018

The Chicago Fire had a remarkable 2017 season in which our MLS team finally broke the streak of years missing playoffs, and now the club is looking to continue to improve during their 2018 campaign. To help them reach new heights, the “Men In Red” have unleashed their primary kit.

Some of the notable features on this year’s shirt include:

  • A custom jocktag to honor the 20th Anniversary of the Fire’s inaugural 1998 team that completed the historic “Double”, winning both the 1998 MLS Cup and 1998 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup championships
  • Double-white bars on front of jersey, recalling the club’s inaugural 1998 kits
  • White numbers, names and sleeve trim
  • Blue shoulder striping, matching the secondary kit
  • Six-pointed red stars lifted from the Chicago municipal flag on the back neck sign-off, with the distinct second star denoting the Great Chicago Fire of 1871
  • ‘FIRE’ emblazoned on socks in distinctive Fire font

The kit is available now at the Toyota Park Fan Shop and at ShopChicagoFire.com! See more pics below. Continue Reading

Vince Staples Reveals ‘Big Fish Theory’ Converse Collab Sneakers

posted by Oscar January 21, 2018

Vince Staples has unveiled the new sneakers that he collaborated on with Converse. The kicks were inspired by his 2017 album Big Fish Theory, and he revealed the new designs on Instagram with the caption “Don‘t tap the glass.”

While the caption was pretty clever, it did lack an official release date. They’re due out sometime in January; check ’em out below.

Update (1/22):

Earlier today we got word of some details surrounding this collab. According to a press release: “On January 25, Converse and Vince Staples celebrate Big Fish Theory in the first capsule collection from the two, applying the album’s motifs onto Chuck 70 sneakers and Converse Essentials apparel.”

The Converse x Vince Staples collection is available on Converse.com and from retailers globally starting January 25, 2018. Check out more info and additional images below. Continue Reading

Nike and the NBA Release City Edition Uniforms

posted by Oscar December 27, 2017

The NBA’s move to Nike has delivered its latest rewards by way of a fourth uniform category under their uniform Editions initiative this season.

Celebrating elements of the league’s 30 franchises, The City Edition designs honor the teams’ hometowns and its legends. Some of my personal favorites include the Chicago Bulls design seen above that was inspired by our iconic city flag, the Celtics incorporating parquet floor of “The Garden” into its grey jersey, and Phillie’s patriotic details like a parchment paper-inspired base color and script that mimics the original Declaration of Independence.

The Lakers’ jersey went in a different direction by instead creating designs that pay tribute to franchise legends as part of the “Lore Series.”

Check Out Chicago Creatives’ Interview w/ DaveTheSLKR

posted by Alberto November 16, 2017

Chicago Creatives just released a brand new interview with our good friend DaveTheSLKR in which he talks about starting the SLKRS brand, how hard it is to find funding, the next venture for Los SLKRS and much more. Read an excerpt from the interview below and read the full interview on the Chicago Creatives website by clicking HERE.

What’s next for SLKRS?

I’m partnering with my friend Aldrin, owner of Kasa Silkscreening Inc., and we’re working on a print workshop, kind of like a paint and sip but with screen printing. We plan on hosting these pop-ups all around the city soon. I also started working on a collection that I hope to release in the beginning of the year with a video lookbook that will be directed by Miguel Cisneros (Unsung Media). This is the first collection where ill be expressing myself in regards to how I’ve been feeling about recent trends. I’m tired of clothes looking the same, and I felt like I was stuck in that space where I wasn’t thinking outside the box. I feel like a lot of people don’t understand what it’s like to follow your dreams, and this collection reflects how I’m doing it with a latino twist.

To celebrate the release of the new interview, DaveTheSLKR cooked up a new limited edition t-shirt. Pics of that shirt can be seen below. You can pick up that up along with other Los SLKRS items on SLKRS.com.

adidas Soccer Reveals 2018 FIFA World Cup National Team Home Kits

posted by Oscar November 6, 2017

The countdown to the 2018 FIFA World Cup to be held in Russia is about to reach just 6 months more to go, so adidas Soccer has given us a glimpse at what some of the teams competing in that spectacle will be sporting next summer.  The Home kits of Germany, Spain, Russia, Japan, Colombia, Argentina and Mexico all revealed, and each one has taken inspiration from iconic shirts from their respective pasts.

The new jersey for FIFA World Cup defending champions Germany is a take on the team’s iconic 1990 shirt. Hosts Russia will be playing in an updated version of their 1988 Olympic Games kit, where the team won Gold. Messi and the rest of Argentina will be competing in an albiceleste shirt that celebrates the federation’s 125-year anniversary, which features an embossed sign-off combined of laurels (incorporated into the stripes) and the number 125.

2010 winners Spain pay homage to their 1994 shirt with a line graphic design consisting of diamonds in red, yellow and blue. Perhaps the best of the bunch, Colombia reminds us of their standout jersey for 1990 FIFA World Cup in Italy that boasts a blue and red graphic design on the side of the kit highlighting the Colombian flag colors. Also worth noting is that GK jersey was inspired by René Higuita’s shirt from that ’90 tournament.

Japan incorporates traditional craftsmanship of Sashiko stitching technique for their classic blue shirt that also features hues of red and white as a nod to the national flag. Mexico’s (¡viva!) la verde has a gradient graphic running from the hem towards the chest. Belgium refreshed its 1984 kit with argyle in black yellow and red (the colors of the Belgian flag) with the federation badge in the center.

Nike Soccer Unveils 2017/18 Third Kits for FC Barcelona, Inter Milan, AS Roma, Chelsea, Tottenham

posted by Oscar September 12, 2017

The UEFA Champions League is back!! While a lot of us may take advantage of these dates to start queuing up the iconic theme song (UPDATE), Nike instead has opted for unleashing some new kits for some of the teams in the competition they suit up.

Spain’s FC Barcelona, Italy’s Inter Milan and AS Roma, and Chelsea and Tottenham from the UK, all have new kits announced this week. All the teams listed will be sporting camo designs on their latest jerseys.

Some of the colors have some interesting names and titles. Chelsea’s dark grey shirt has “modern electric blue” features and Spurs will be wearing a dark purple kit “rich yellow” highlights. The cool names for the new colors go to Italian squads, with Inter rocking a thunder blue third kit and AS Roma’s new jersey will be turning heads thanks to their dark velvet brown tone. The big stand-out? That goes to Barça, which is biting Roma’s signature maroon & orange colors for some odd and inexplicable reason… I mean, it looks cool, but still.

Check out images of the new kits below. Continue Reading

The Le Trappeur Tee is an ode to the hustlers, to the people who wake up and everyday continue to Go Out N’ Get It.

Check out the ‘Los SLKRS Collection’ Lookbook

posted by Alberto July 7, 2017

SLKRS [slackers] released their new collection, Los SLKRS Collection, back in late April via a pop up shop at Vintage Lounge in Little Italy. The event was a success with the entire collection selling out in a matter of days. If you didn’t make it out back in April, you’re in luck. The entire collection was just restocked and made available on SLKRS.com. You can check out the lookbook shot by SauceVision for the collection modeled by Vic Veggies and Joe Khalifa below. For more info on the new collection, see what SLKRS co-founder/designer has to say below.

“With the new collection, I wanted to create something that I could relate to. In streetwear, I feel like I don’t completely connect to a lot of brands because I’m Latino. I can obviously relate with the Chicago brands but I wanted something that a Latino in Chicago could relate to.

Moving forward, I’m going to keep LOS in front of SLKRS. We already have plans on shooting our next lookbook in Mexico City.” –DaveTheSLKR

Aside from making some fire streetwear, the SLKRS squad (Sauce, Dro, Jerry, Tino, Jesus & Vic Veggies) know how to throw a decent party. If you don’t have any plans tomorrow (7/8), they are throwing their third annual Yacht Party. For more info/tickets, click HERE.

Real Madrid and adidas Reveal New 2017/18 Kits

posted by Oscar June 14, 2017

The biggest team in the world today, Real Madrid have unveiled their new kits for the forthcoming 2017/18 season. The club’s latest jerseys were inspired by the club’s loyal fans – the Madridistas – and the city of Madrid.

The current title-holders of the most recent editions of the Spanish La Liga and the Champions League, Real Madrid are set to defend their crowns in the new kits. The Home jersey, in its iconic white, features the introduction of sky blue stripes and branding that was inspired by the Madrid sky to represent the connection between the club and the city. A memorial stamp at the bottom of the jersey commemorates the club’s 115-year anniversary.

The new away jersey draws inspiration from previous black Madrid kits worn by the club in some of its most successful moments. The jersey continues the theme of the home kit with a new trim color – this time with turquoise green stripes. The Real Madrid logo is re-imagined in turquoise green with a neon effect to stand out against the black.
