Nike Soccer Unveils 2017/18 Third Kits for FC Barcelona, Inter Milan, AS Roma, Chelsea, Tottenham

posted by Oscar September 12, 2017

The UEFA Champions League is back!! While a lot of us may take advantage of these dates to start queuing up the iconic theme song (UPDATE), Nike instead has opted for unleashing some new kits for some of the teams in the competition they suit up.

Spain’s FC Barcelona, Italy’s Inter Milan and AS Roma, and Chelsea and Tottenham from the UK, all have new kits announced this week. All the teams listed will be sporting camo designs on their latest jerseys.

Some of the colors have some interesting names and titles. Chelsea’s dark grey shirt has “modern electric blue” features and Spurs will be wearing a dark purple kit “rich yellow” highlights. The cool names for the new colors go to Italian squads, with Inter rocking a thunder blue third kit and AS Roma’s new jersey will be turning heads thanks to their dark velvet brown tone. The big stand-out? That goes to Barça, which is biting Roma’s signature maroon & orange colors for some odd and inexplicable reason… I mean, it looks cool, but still.

Check out images of the new kits below. Continue Reading

The Le Trappeur Tee by OriginalKewl®

posted by Alberto July 14, 2017

OriginalKewl®, a brand out of the Southside of Chicago, will be releasing a brand new tee tomorrow that is an ode to all the hustlers out there. Ricardo “Kewl” Alvarado curates the brand and you can expect a lot more heat from the fellow Southside native. For more on The Le Trappeur Tee , see what Kewl had to say below.

The Le Trappeur Tee is an ode to the hustlers, to the people who wake up and everyday continue to Go Out N’ Get It.

Regardless of your hustle, continue to progress. There’s two types of people those who conform to what is comfortable and those who go against the grain to work towards what is theirs.

A celebration of the hard working self striving to achieve the pursuit of happiness and in turn, a dream. – Ricardo “Kewl” Alvarado

The new tee will be released at noon tomorrow (7/15) via originalkewl.com. Check out more pics and a promo video HERE.

Check out the ‘Los SLKRS Collection’ Lookbook

posted by Alberto July 7, 2017

SLKRS [slackers] released their new collection, Los SLKRS Collection, back in late April via a pop up shop at Vintage Lounge in Little Italy. The event was a success with the entire collection selling out in a matter of days. If you didn’t make it out back in April, you’re in luck. The entire collection was just restocked and made available on SLKRS.com. You can check out the lookbook shot by SauceVision for the collection modeled by Vic Veggies and Joe Khalifa below. For more info on the new collection, see what SLKRS co-founder/designer has to say below.

“With the new collection, I wanted to create something that I could relate to. In streetwear, I feel like I don’t completely connect to a lot of brands because I’m Latino. I can obviously relate with the Chicago brands but I wanted something that a Latino in Chicago could relate to.

Moving forward, I’m going to keep LOS in front of SLKRS. We already have plans on shooting our next lookbook in Mexico City.” –DaveTheSLKR

Aside from making some fire streetwear, the SLKRS squad (Sauce, Dro, Jerry, Tino, Jesus & Vic Veggies) know how to throw a decent party. If you don’t have any plans tomorrow (7/8), they are throwing their third annual Yacht Party. For more info/tickets, click HERE.

Real Madrid and adidas Reveal New 2017/18 Kits

posted by Oscar June 14, 2017

The biggest team in the world today, Real Madrid have unveiled their new kits for the forthcoming 2017/18 season. The club’s latest jerseys were inspired by the club’s loyal fans – the Madridistas – and the city of Madrid.

The current title-holders of the most recent editions of the Spanish La Liga and the Champions League, Real Madrid are set to defend their crowns in the new kits. The Home jersey, in its iconic white, features the introduction of sky blue stripes and branding that was inspired by the Madrid sky to represent the connection between the club and the city. A memorial stamp at the bottom of the jersey commemorates the club’s 115-year anniversary.

The new away jersey draws inspiration from previous black Madrid kits worn by the club in some of its most successful moments. The jersey continues the theme of the home kit with a new trim color – this time with turquoise green stripes. The Real Madrid logo is re-imagined in turquoise green with a neon effect to stand out against the black.

BiGBODYFiJi Has Blessed The Streets With His Highly Anticipated Debut, the “Messico EP”

posted by Miguelini May 6, 2017

Album Art: flthyrich

Yesterday BIGBODYFIJI released the Messico Ep and it is exactly the refreshing project Chicago needed before Summer officially gets under way. The EP was entirely produced by seerwho pushes Fiji to move like water over energetic beats on all 5 tracks. On his debut solo EP, FiJi introduces himself as an artist who is confident in their craft and isn’t following the crowd with unique braggadocious raps that one might even describe as jolly. The name of the EP stems from one of Fiji’s old high school friends, nicknamed Messico, who happens to be locked up at the moment. Features include , and Fiji’s little brother Jarvis Rush ().

Recently, Andrew Barber tweeted this:

To answer that question I present to you the one and only BAD BOi 97′. You can stream the Messico EP after the jump. It’s time…

Hola Chola Chicago Pop Up Shop Recap

posted by Alex April 4, 2017

Let us fill you in on what you missed out if you forgot to RSVP for this past Sunday’s Hola Chola Pop Up Shop that took place at the National Museum of Mexican Art. The event was created to celebrate the designs of Susanna Gonzalez Torres of Hola Chola. Susanna is currently on tour throughout different cities selling her designs and making exclusive pieces for each city. If you made it out, you were able to get your nails done with a flare inspired by the Mexican culture from the good people at Hush Salon. As you walked into the function, you were able to see some old school lowriders provided by Neighborhood Legends and Streetwise Car Club. It was the perfect spot to get your Instagram stunting on. Throughout the night, Latnix and old school tunes were provided by our own homie, Freddy Phatz who kept the dance floor busy throughout the event. Drinks were inspired by your local Southside Mexican paleteria, La Michoacana who provided the mixers for the Hennessy X Agua Fresca de Pina, Hennessy X Agua Fresca de Fresa and of course Hennessy X Horchata. The good people at Cold Chillen provided the awesome designs and graphics including the menus and invites. During the event, Susanna gave an inspirational speech on how the Mexican Culture influenced her designs and how her hardships and travels throughout Mexico have led her to her present situation. Check out the pictures of the event below!

Sheila Rashid: Chicago’s Streetwear Guru

posted by Allie Rowe February 27, 2017

Her space was littered with hard work, fabrics set out on the kitchen counter all cut into different shapes and sizes, scissors sat looking lonely for their owner’s fingers. After a year of back-and-forth reaching out to the young Chicago designer, we were finally able to find a time the two of us could meet up and talk about her work.

Overalls.

As simple as the concept may seem, Sheila Rashid has reinvented the way overalls will be worn in fashion for many years to come. Her work is direct and purposeful, each stitch being sewn with great thought placed behind it.

Fresh in from a Vogue panel in New York, Shelia sat down to talk about how she started her career in fashion and the direction her overalls have taken since then. Continue Reading
