It’s heeeeeere!! The Lollapalooza lineup has arrived in the early, early hours of the morning (6am tho?!) and less than one day after 4-day passes sold out, we find out who’s playing Grant Park between August 3-6.

Chance all but confirmed his inclusion yesterday, but now we come to learn that young Chance The Rapper is actually the first name on this year’s lineup! Joining him to headline the storied festival are Arcade Fire, Muse, Blink-182, Cage The Elephant, Lorde, Run The Jewels, Alt-J, Big Sean, and The Shins.

But as with every year, it’s not just about the headliners!! Some of the other dope names that this year’s roster has to offer are other POD favorites like Migos, Spoon, Kaytranada, Ryan Adams, Phantogram, Mac DeMarco, Royal Blood, Highly Suspect, Aminé, Joey Bada$$, Charli XCX, Sampha, and Maggie Rogers.

Along with Chano, the Chicago presence on this lineup is also quite dope. This year we can catch acts that we fully endorse like Whitney, Noname, The O’My’s, Kweku Collins, and The Walters as the hometown highlights.

At the time of publication, you can still purchase single-day tickets on the Lollapalooza website.

posted by Oscar February 27, 2017

Today we got a glimpse at the dopeness that will surround the 2017 edition of the Pitchfork Music Festival with the announcement of the headliners: LCD Soundsystem will headline on Friday night, followed by A Tribe Called Quest on Saturday night, with Solange closing out the festival on Sunday.

I called it with both the Tribe and Solange heading for this fest, both coming off a 2016 that saw them realize truly amazing records. LCD Soundsystem for their part are headlining a summer festival in the Chi for a second year in a row, extending their comeback some and allowing plenty more to tell ’em to shut up and play the hits!

Along with this news, the festival organizers have announced they are partnering with Saint Heron for a series of events curated by this innovative label and arts platform founded by Solange Knowles. The Saint Heron-charged event series will feature an onsite art installation, film screening, artist talks, late night jazz jam sessions, and more. posted by Alex February 22, 2017

The weekend’s almost here and it’s time to make plans. Let us help you make those plans a little easier. With so much going on in the city every week, here are a handful of events that you may want to consider attending. If you got an event worth going to, @ me bruh!

Dally Auston – 2/23 @ Chop Shop: You really need to be at Chop Shop on Thursday night. Dally Auston will be blessing the stage along with a bunch of his homies. If you do one thing at all this weekend, make sure it’s going to this show. #SaveMoney #WSGTM

Stefan Ponce & Friends – 2/24 @ East Room: Stefan Ponce. East Room. Do I really have to say anything else aside from, get there nice and early? I don’t think so. You’re welcome.

Savoy – 2/25 @ Chop Shop: We’ve featured Savoy and their latest project called Tomorrow Today, Pt. 1. If you copped a ticket on time, you’re definitely in for a good show.

The Dream – 2/25 @ The Metro: Maybe you messed up on Valentine’s day and didn’t send that special person flowers or candy to the job. Or maybe the sidepiece doesn’t feel enough love from you. Whatever the case may be, The Dream at The Metro can certainly fix those feelings. Don’t play ya’self again, tickets are still available!

Another House Party – 2/25 @ Beauty Bar: Bring your 90’s gear and best “running man” skills to Beauty Bar on Saturday. You won’t regret it!

Stix Presents Jam Night – 2/26 @ Schuba’s: The awesome thing about this monthly party is that you’ll never know who comes out. Last month Chance made an appearance. Maybe two months in a row? Only way to find out is by heading over to Schuba’s. Tickets are here.

posted by Oscar February 22, 2017

Whitney are continuing their run of fine form with today’s release of their Spotify Singles, which include a cover of Bob Dylan’s “Tonight I’ll Be Staying Here With You.” The group has been playing the song live for some time now, so it’s great to hear a recording of that setlist stand-out. Paired with the cover is the dope Light Upon The Lake tune “The Falls.”

Whitney is currently on tour with The Head and The Heart and will embark on their own headline tour starting in April. Many of the Spring tour shows are selling out like those at the Triple Rock Social Club in Minneapolis, The Biltmore Cabaret in Vancouver, Neumos in Seattle and three nights at The Independent in San Francisco… And as fans of their live show, we highly suggest you jump at the chance to buy your tix and see for yourself.
