Sam Smith Shares New Song “Pray” and Announces ‘The Thrill Of It All 2018 Tour’

posted by Oscar October 6, 2017

Sam Smith has detailed his forthcoming sophomore album, The Thrill Of It All, which will be released worldwide on November 3rd via Capitol Records, and has taken opportunity of the announcement to also share new song “Pray.”

The song’s title sets the theme right off the bat for the elements you’ll hear in the track’s production and lyrics, incorporating elegant strings and a lively choir for backing vocals to a Gospel-tinged sound that is a proper accompaniment to Smith’s singing about reading the bible and being his counterpart’s disciple while admitting he’s more sinner than saint. Smith’s seemingly got another hit on his hands here.

Smith has also announced the North American dates for The Thrill Of It All tour. The trek through arenas will kick off on June 18, 2018 at Air Canada Centre in Toronto and moving on to shows at Barclays Center in Brooklyn (June 27), New York City’s Madison Square Garden (June 29) and before concluding back in Canada at Calgary’s Scotiabank Saddledome on September 13. See below for more tour details.

Event: The Growlers at The Vic Theatre (10/6)

posted by Oscar September 29, 2017

The Growlers are coming back fo Chicago! This coming October 6, Brooks Nielsen and co. will be performing at The Vic Theatre.

The band is about a year removed from their latest album, City Club, which saw them broaden their sound for their first release under Julian Casablancas’ label, Cult Records. The record saw the Cali group step away a bit from their signature Beach Goth stylings to venture out to explore and adopt elements from other genres; the move may have initially stirred some mixed feelings among some fans, but once you got past the impact shock of hearing them do things differently, it was easy to see (and appreciate) what they were trying to accomplish. Revisit our review of City Club to see why I picked it as one of my favorite albums of 2016.

Get your tickets to their 10/6 concert here: https://buff.ly/2xDdsCO

The group will also be holding their new festival at the end of the month. The Growlers Six will have its inaugural shows on October 28 & 29 at the LA Waterfront and will feature performances from the Growlers, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Modest Mouse, Danny Brown, Dan Auerbach, and Juvenile. Check out the lineup and other details below.
