1688Lbs – Summer Looks

posted by Alex June 16, 2017

Get in tune with one of Chicago’s up and coming streetwear brands, 1688Lbs who just dropped their summer looks today! Peep game as they’ve been hard at work for the past couple of months with their guerrilla marketing, designs and exposure into the local scene. The homies at 1688Lbs have created a different taste in streetwear that’s been missing in the local scene recently. Their style is versatile as it caters to just about anyone from creatives, skateboarders, athletes, and really anyone who is looking for something different and fresh to rock. My picks for the drop are the 1688Lbs City Skulls tee as well as the Signature 1688Lbs Signature Tee. Check out the looks below and make sure to cop from 1688Lbs’s latest drop here!

Pinqy Ring – “Phoenix”

posted by Alex June 6, 2017

The first time I heard a verse from Pinqy Ring was on Visual’s The Ambassador project about a year ago. I remember I had to rewind her verse on “The Take” and realized that Pinqy was going to be a problem really soon. Today, I’m happy to be posting her latest track called “Phoenix” which describes Pinqy Ring’s coming out of the ashes in life. Pinqy Ring buries the opposition, not just in English, but also in Spanish. Check out “Phoenix” below and be on the lookout for more from Pinqy Ring, who will be performing at this year’s Taste of Chicago.

Video: KYLE – “iSpy” (featuring Lil Yachty)

posted by Alex April 8, 2017

I can’t think of many artists that had a better SXSW than KYLE. Dude’s been killing it on tour and we’re definitely messing with everything he puts out. The Lil Yachty assisted “iSpy” is pretty much being played everywhere you go and we’re pretty geeked that the official video for the track was released. Check it out above, and good luck trying to get into his upcoming show at The Metro next week as it’s been sold out!

The Aces – “Physical”

posted by Alex April 7, 2017

Situationships, one night stands, commitment issues and other weird arrangements are something our generation knows all too well. At the end of the day getting “Physical” with someone can be fun for a while, but there’s nothing like having a genuine connection with the person of interest. The Aces definitely make it known that they aren’t just about the sexual connection after releasing their latest track called “Physical”.  We were actually lucky enough to get to know the ladies of The Aces a few weeks ago at SXSW, so make sure to check back soon and catch our interview that we had with the super dope group! Until then, listen to “Physical” below.

Hola Chola Chicago Pop Up Shop Recap

posted by Alex April 4, 2017

Let us fill you in on what you missed out if you forgot to RSVP for this past Sunday’s Hola Chola Pop Up Shop that took place at the National Museum of Mexican Art. The event was created to celebrate the designs of Susanna Gonzalez Torres of Hola Chola. Susanna is currently on tour throughout different cities selling her designs and making exclusive pieces for each city. If you made it out, you were able to get your nails done with a flare inspired by the Mexican culture from the good people at Hush Salon. As you walked into the function, you were able to see some old school lowriders provided by Neighborhood Legends and Streetwise Car Club. It was the perfect spot to get your Instagram stunting on. Throughout the night, Latnix and old school tunes were provided by our own homie, Freddy Phatz who kept the dance floor busy throughout the event. Drinks were inspired by your local Southside Mexican paleteria, La Michoacana who provided the mixers for the Hennessy X Agua Fresca de Pina, Hennessy X Agua Fresca de Fresa and of course Hennessy X Horchata. The good people at Cold Chillen provided the awesome designs and graphics including the menus and invites. During the event, Susanna gave an inspirational speech on how the Mexican Culture influenced her designs and how her hardships and travels throughout Mexico have led her to her present situation. Check out the pictures of the event below!

Project: Esohel X PLA – Vivid Livin

posted by Alex March 31, 2017

Normally when it’s someone’s birthday, the birthday person gets gifts. Esohel decided to flip the script this time by giving us a present for his birthday. Esohel linked up with PLA for their 6 track EP called Vivid Livin which includes production from CashMoneyAP, Serious Beats and Fly Melodies. We haven’t heard much of PLA but from this project, it seems as if he makes the perfect person to link with Esohel on Vivid Livin. Hopefully this isn’t the first and only time we hear from the two together, cause we can see ourselves ridin’ round with the widows down “vividly living”. Check out what Esohel and PLA cooked up together below.

Saint Millie – “$anta Muerte” (produced by Martin $ky)

posted by Alex March 23, 2017

This is an ugly track! This is one of those tracks where you make that ugly face when you hear it. Saint Millie and Martin $ky make the perfect duo as they connect on “$anta Muerte”. The track really makes think as to what more can these two Chicago artists come up with together. Yo Millie and Martin, can we get a project from both of y’all together? We need it! Anyways, check out “$anta Muerte” below. You won’t regret it.

The Boy Illinois – “I’m Home” (Koto Freestyle)

posted by Alex March 23, 2017

When Illi speaks, we listen. He’s here to take the crown back from all of the trendy rappers who come and go. At the end of the day, Illi is still standing. Honestly, I would of liked a milk carton with a “Missing Rappers” sign on it, but I see what he did here with the planet Sirius. Anyways, The Boy Illinois has really been making a name for himself as he’s been featured on various media outlets recently. He’s also got a performance lined up for this summer’s Taste of Chicago, so make sure you’re present for the food and the show! Take a listen to “I’m Home” (Koto Freestyle) below.
