Apple has announced today its acquisition of a Beastie Boys documentary from surviving members Mike Diamond and Adam Horovitz and Academy Award-winning director Spike Jonze.

In the Beastie Boys Story live doc, Diamond and Horovitz will be discussing their personal story as a band. The film is set to premiere on the heels of the 26th anniversary of the release of Beastie Boys’ 1994 chart-topping album, Ill Communication, and it marks the reunion of the Beasties with their longtime friend and collaborator after over 25 years since Spike Jonze directed the music video for the album’s iconic hit single, “Sabotage.”

A special cut of the documentary feature will open exclusively in select IMAX® theaters for a limited run April 3, before premiering globally on Apple TV+ on April 24.
