March Playlist

When I was growing up, I always had the advantage to listen to music like J Dilla, Nas, Three 6 Mafia, DMX, A Tribe Called Quest, etc. Real art, music, and essentially beats are what Old School Hip Hop represented. In my opinion, some of the music we listen to now lacks some of those substances. There’s really no creativity when it comes to music videos anymore, some of the beats sound the same, and some of your favorite rapper lyrics are just things that a fourth grader can make.

I like the music that makes you feel something, that instantly boost your energy, or just makes you feel like today is going to be a good day. Beats are what I look for in music. J Dilla has been a major part of my life, due to my dad introducing me to him. The Shining and Donuts were two of the albums my dad loved to play constantly and something that shaped me into the person I am today. I love music without lyrics. Being able to just make a beat, and still be able to convey a message is sickening to me. It’s so raw, and it’s very rare nowadays. Producers definitely deserve more credit than they are given.

That’s why this playlist contains some music that I grew up on,  some artist that I feel like could make a definite change in this culture of music, some beats that are freaking relaxing, and some music that just makes you feel like walking and appreciating life on a sunny ass day. (personally for me)

I KNOW this post is hella tangent, and I know it doesn’t correlate with anything that I want to say. But I just want one to know that BEATS are EVERYTHING. Also, appreciate the artists that still have substance to their music. But anyway, attached below are the playlists and I hope you like it :).

Thanks, guys!  Also shoutout to Soulection for being my music savior!
