Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever – “Mainland”

Melbourne band and Sub Pop-signees Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever have shared a new song entitled “Mainland.” The track was recorded in a secluded house in Australia’s Northern NSW wilderness, and it provides us with the first look at new material since releasing their The French Press EP last year.

As noted in the press release, singer/songwriter/guitarist Tom Russo’s inspiration for the song came via a 2017 trip to his grandparent’s birthplace of the Aeolian Islands off Sicily, describing its impact with the following: “I was reading about a refugee crisis unfolding not far away in the Mediterranean Sea,” says Russo. “The song is about longing, disillusionment, privilege and holding on to love as a kind of shield.”

Hear that below.

Along with appearances at both Coachella and Shaky Knees music festivals in the states, the band will tour North America, the UK and Europe around the festival dates as well. See the itinerary below.
