Here at Pursuit of Dopeness, we are always keeping our ears peeled for music that doesn’t necessarily fit into a single genre because it usually makes for an interesting listen. Today allow me to introduce to you Chicago artist KJ Winters, who has been working on two concept tapes for a few years now. Just recently he released the third track from his upcoming tape Break, recruiting Julia Lovelace to provide some beautiful eerie vocals. The self-produced song is called “This World” and maintains an overall dark tone but what makes it really stand out is Winter’s cadence as he drops honest bars about dealing with human insecurities and experiencing the tumultuous effects of various substances to cope.
“I‘m just looking for a remedy in this world, cuz’ I put too much energy in this world.”
