Don’t Sleep: 10 Underrated Rap Songs of May

Gucci Mane, Lil Yachty and even Bryson Tiller decided to drop music this month taking over the industry every week. Often times, when many high profile artists drop music lesser known acts slide under the radar without the proper attention they deserve. Being that May was again a great month for rap, here are 10 rap songs that may have flew under your radar and need to be played before we close the door on May 2017. Listen below!

You & I – Rockie Fresh (Prod. by Chris Baston)

Rockie Fresh returned this month delivering 3 dope tracks, this one being my favorite. His flow on this sounds similar to Kanye’s flow on Spaceship and mixed with the soulful beat makes this track one of the best of the month. I can’t wait to see what else he drops in 2017.

Waist of a Wasp – T-Wayne

The surprise of 2017 happened this May, as T-Pain decided to drop the archived project T-Wayne out of nowhere. This short mixtape had every fan reminiscing about the days where Wayne and T-Pain ruled the world. This song was a perfect example of that, as T-Pain does his thing on the hook and Wayne comes in delivering catchy bars. Even in 2017 this track is still fire.

Waiting On – Lucki  (Prod. By Dzy)

This might be my favorite Lucki song of all time, as DZY gives him one of the best beats I’ve heard in a long time. I want to thank Lucki for dropping this right as it got warm, as this song is the perfect track to bump in the car during the summer.

Mount Kushmore – Snoop Dogg Feat. Redman, Method Man, & B-Real (Prod. by Dr. Evo)

This song was great surprise, as Snoop brought together one of the posse cuts of 2017. Every rapper that took the mic elevated the song to a new level making for a great track from the OG’s of the rap game.

Big Fish – Vince Staples (Prod. By Christian Rich)

Vince Staples announced he was releasing his next album “Big Fish Theory” in June and decided to bless us with this dope single. This beat goes crazy and with Vince’s bars plus Juicy J on the hook makes for this incredible song.

Paper Over Here – Quavo (Prod. by OG Parker)

Quavo dropped another dope solo track this month and it made me again get my hopes up for a solo Quavo album. Until then, this track is gonna be in rotation for along time.

Kool Aid – Danny Brown

The Detroit legend, Danny Brown, is back this month serving up this banger for the HBO Show “Silicon Valley”. I stand by the fact that Danny is one of the most genius rappers in the game, as he can fit his voice around any beat thrown his way. This one is no different and will be played at max volume all summer.
