Don’t Sleep: 10 Underrated Rap Songs of April

Kendrick Lamar, Joey Bada$$ and even Frank Ocean decided to drop music this month taking over the industry every week. Often times, when many high profile artists drop music lesser known acts slide under the radar without the proper attention they deserve. Being that April was again a great month overall for rap, here are 10 rap songs that may have flew under your radar and need to be played before we close the door on April 2017. Listen below!

20 Karat Jesus – Freddie Gibbs (Prod. by Pops, Speakerbomb, & Blair Norf)

This technically came out out on March 31st but idgaf, it’s on this list because it’s too good to overlook. Gibbs is back and this track is one of his hardest, as it’s was one of my favorite intros of 2017. The second half of this track is what I want to be playing when I enter the gates of heaven.

I Win – Lethal Bizzle feat. Skepta (Prod. by Skepta)

I just learned of this song this week, as they both performed it live in Chicago at the Skepta Show on 4/24. This track reinstates why Skepta is king of Grime right now, as he also is the producer on this. However, the star of this is Lethal Bizzle who goes crazy on this.

Happy Days – Twista feat. Supa Bwe (Prod. by ZenZan)

Supa Bwe and Twista. What else could you want? Supa kills this hook and twista does his thing with his always solid bars. Hit play and get ready to have it on repeat for awhile.

Hangloose – Ric Wilson feat. Chuck D (Prod. HYE SUNG)

The title is exactly the vibe of this song. This is the perfect summer track and should be in rotation for at least the next 4 months. Ric Wilson is really making a name for himself in Chicago and I’m hyped for whatever else he has planned in 2017.

MCM – Kap G

Magic city on a Monday (MCM) is probably one of my Kap G favorite tracks ever. This beat is so dope and Kap does thing on this. Don’t sleep on Kap G and check out his new mixtape SuperJefe.

UnderDog – Sunny Woodz Ft. UG Vavy, Joseph Chilliams & Femdot (Prod. ZenZan)

Salute Sunny Woodz, who never fails to bring the dopest collab tracks in the city. This time it’s UG Vavy with another catchy hook, then Joseph Chilliams and Femdot deliver the bars to make this track a future classic.

Imsuparaw 1.5 – Monster Mike (Prod. Linus x Kishie)

Of all the artists on here, Monster Mike might be the most underrated of them all. This track is so dope, as he gives you bars on bars over this smooth beat. I’m excited for whatever he decides to put out in 2017.

Kill Jill – Big Boi Feat. Killer Mike & Jeezy

An Atlanta trifecta came together on this and absolutely murdered this track. Killer Mike comes right out the gate going insane, then Jeezy & Big Boi match his energy making this one of the best tracks of 2017.

Headlock – Cousin Stizz Ft. Offset (Prod. by Vinylz)

Boston legend Cousin Stizz dropped one of the best singles of the year this month, over yet another fire Vinylz beat. Offset also continues his hot streak delivering a dope verse to complete this track.

Black Spiderman – Logic feat. Damian Lemar Hudson (Prod. by Damian Lemar Hudson, Logic, 6ix & DJ Khalil)

Logic was back this month spitting his consistent real bars like always. This song is a masterpiece and the music video is even better. I can’t wait for his new album out in May.
