Album Review: Our Top 5 Songs Off ‘Culture’ by Migos

How did Migos blow up twice? When they dropped Versace in 2013 many people thought that was it. Then with the help of a Donald Glover co sign and internet memes they on top once again. All of this momentum lead to the release of their most anticipated album Culture. After multiple listens, it’s apparent that this legendary rap trio has perfected their sound, dropping their most complete album to date. Culture shows exactly how talented this group is, as they can make hits from turn up tracks to chill songs. Not to mention, their ad-lib game is the strongest it’s ever been with some of their funniest lines coming from this album. Pair that up with producers of the likes of Zaytoven & Metro Boomin, you’re destined to win. In honor of this, here are my top 5 songs off of Culture:

Culture feat. DJ Khaled

This was the perfect way to start this album, I’m not even trolling. Who represents mainstream hip-hop culture better than DJ Khaled?? You get his typical monologue at the start and then Takeoff lives up to his name taking the hype of this album to unforeseen levels. This is easily the strongest intro track of the year right now, Don’t @ me.

“T-Shirt”

The beat, the hook, each rappers verse, and the video are all fire. I’ve had the hook “Momma told me, not to sell work” stuck in my head for weeks and it’s the main reason why this song had to make this list no matter what.

“Deadz” feat. 2 Chainz

As usual, Quavo again makes a genius hook and then the beat drops turning this song from a 10/10 to 20/10. 2chainz also kills his guest verse, but the real star is Takeoff near the end, as he provides one of the most aggressive verses of the 2017 so far.

“Kelly Price” feat. Travis Scott

I knew right when I saw Travis on this album this song was gonna be dope. Every Travis x Migos collab has been crazy from Sloppy Toppy to Oh My and this one is no different. I like this because it changed the pace of the album, slowing it down to a chill track. Surprisingly, Migos use of auto tune is flawless, as they give Travis a run for his money on this one.

“Call Casting”

Low key, I might have to make this my alarm in the morning, because when Takeoff starts the song with “Up in the early morning trapping”  I’ve never been more motivated to put in work. This song is also one of the funniest tracks on the album with each rapper saying outrageous verses at nearly every moment. However, the best by far comes from Quavo who raps “White Boys in the game, Call em Andy Milonakis”. Give us that solo album fam, we need it.

Bonus: “Bad & Boujee”

I didn’t put this on the list since it was the main single and everybody has heard it. However, this meme sums up my thoughts perfectly when it come on.
