Music To Survive Monday: Top 10 Thelonious Martin Produced Tracks

Chicago producer Thelonious Martin has been making moves in the city for a minute, from Djing around town to producing some of the hottest tracks out. Putting out songs with Chance The Rapper, A$AP Rocky, & Joey Purp has quickly risen him to not only one of the best producers in the city, also nationwide. He’s able to mix samples with the best of them and produce beats that guarantee to get replayed for years. Here are 10 tracks produced by him that need to be in your rotation this Monday. Listen Below

LateNightFinancial

This track is so hard, as Thelonious flips a sample so flawlessly it could blow your car speakers out.

I Know Ft. Jay-Z

One thing I like about this dude is that he is fearless when it comes to remixing songs. The craziest part of it all is that often times he can make it into an even better song. On this one he remixes the classic Just Blaze x Hov track “U Don’t Know” and does it so much justice.

Ghost of Dipset – Smoke Dza feat. Cam’Ron

One of my favorite Smoke Dza songs comes from Thelonious on the beat with a Benny Johnson sample from 1973. Dza then delivers some dope bars and Cam’Ron comes in at the end to make you wish a Dipset reunion happens soon.

Purp Interlude – Joey Purp

Joey Purp & Thelonious Martin? What else needs to be said. This throwback did not disappoint when it came out and I’m hoping we get more collabs from these two in the future.

Back Home – A$AP Rocky feat. Mos Def, Acyde, & Yams

This song is straight fire, there’s no way else to describe it. I never thought we would get a Mos Def & A$AP Rocky collab, but it happened thanks to Thelonious, who delivered this ridiculous beat over a sample from 1968 by the Jaggerz.

Wendy N Becky – Joey Bada$$ feat. Chance The Rapper

This song gives me so much nostalgia every time I hear it, as it came out before both of these rappers blew up. Again Thelonious does his thing, giving both rappers a perfect platform to go crazy on.

K.I.N.G.S. – Joey Bada$$ & Capital Steez

Props to Thelonious again for sampling another old track for a dope beat, this time Third Eye by Roy Ayers. Joey & Steez take it from there making it into a classic Pro Era Hit. R.I.P. Capital Steez, he would have been one of the greatest.

See a Key (Ki’) – Skyzoo feat. Jadakiss

It’s crazy to me where Thelonious finds these samples from, as he uses a song from 1969 by Five Stairsteps on this one. The sample fits perfectly with the beat as one of the best underground artists Skyzoo and Jadakiss do their thing over it.

Flip Phone – ShowYouSuck

This song makes laugh every time I hear it, as Thelonious & ShowYouSuck team up to give you this hilarious track. I hope we get more collabs from these two in the future as well, as their sounds go great together.

September

This is another one of those instrumentals by Thelonious that sounds ridiculous when played in a car. I’ve had numerous amount of trips down Lake Shore Drive blasting this as loud as possible. I’m ready for another full length album whenever it drops.
