Sir The Baptist has followed up his impressive set last weekend at Jay Z’s Made in America Festival in Philadelphia by releasing a new song titled “What We Got.” The track features Donald Lawrence & Co. and its tinged in that Gospel goodness we’ve loved hearing throughout Sir’s catalog. The themes surrounding this joint revolve around growing up in Bronzeville, black economics and growing up in America.

The optimistic song has plenty of lines that will give our lives hope and promise; some favorites include the opener “if I could be anything I wanna be the little engine in the hood/if I could show you anything I’ll show you that our hood was once so good” and of course the chorus.

Sir The Baptist’s full-length debut project, PK: Preacher’s Kid, is due to arrive later this fall. Check out “What We Got” below.

More regarding that Made in America Festival set… Did you know that after performing an incredible set this past Sunday, September 4th, as he was leaving the stage, Sir was greeted by none other than fest founder/Hip Hop icon Jay Z! Hova gave props and told Sir he’s a fan. Luckily our homie Johnny Fan was on hand to capture the moment Sir got a personal endorsement from his music idol. Peep that below.
