The Strokes Announce New EP ‘Future Present Past’

The Strokes EP

The Strokes are back, baby! The band announced today their new EP Future Present Past. This is the band’s first batch of new material since 2013’s Comedown Machine and it will be released on June 3 via Julian Casablancas’ Cult Records.

We’ll be among the lucky few to be present at the band’s forthcoming headlining set at Governors Ball in NYC next weekend, where they will play on the same day the EP becomes available, so hopefully we’ll get to hear some of that new material make the setlist.

Lead single “OBLIVIUS” is now streaming below and the Cult Records website, where they will also be streaming the whole EP later today. Check that below as well as a new and laid-back interview with the band titled “A Conversation With The Strokes.”

Update: The Strokes premiered a second new track, “Drag Queen” on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 radio show. Peep below.

Update: Spotify is now exclusively streaming  EP in full. Check it out below.

The EP is now available for pre-order on the Cult Records website as a digital download or vinyl (including some limited edition copies on red vinyl), and in different packages including different t-shirt bundles. During Julian Casablancas’ new Sirius XM show we saw the premiere of the first single “OBLIVIUS.” Future Present Past will feature two other original songs in “Drag Queen” and “Threat of Joy” along with a remix of the lead track by Strokes drummer Fab Moretti.

A Strokes / Cult Records pop up shop will be open for a week from May 30 through June 5 at 352 Bowery in Manhattan. “DJ sets from special guests to be announced shortly,” says a press release.
