The latest episode of Pitchfork.tv’s “Yearbook” mini-series focuses on the evolution of the Blues, dating back to Chicago in 1966. On episode three we see the impact made by artists like the Butterfield Blues Band and their brand of blues mixed with psychedelic rock, as well as the Association for the Advancement of Creative Musicians’ (AACM) innovations to the world of Jazz. We also learn about the early days of Curtis Mayfield and Minnie Riperton and their stints with the Impressions and Rotary Connection respectively.
