Coldplay performed at this year’s Super Bowl halftime show, and it was actually a pretty damn good set. The British band commanded the main stage for the first half of the mini concert, with vivid colors adorning the stage and instruments, accented by the dancers on the flanks of the field holding large flowers and using them as part of an elaborate choreography accompaniment, like you would typically see at these sorts of productions but for say the World Cup.

After Chris Martin and crew played three tracks, it was time for Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars to do their smash hit “Uptown Funk,” which I have to say absolutely stole the show for me. Afterwards, Beyoncé appeared on the side of the field with an army of dancers to help her perform her new track “Formation,” doing so in spectacular fashion. The guest appearances portion culminated in both Queen Bey and Bruno meeting on the same stage together to finish up “Uptown Funk,” for which Martin joined them as they strolled down the catwalk.

Did Coldplay get upstaged, perhaps a tad bit, but all in all it was a memorable halftime show that stands out for not sucking and never being dull, and that’s all that matters. See it above.
