Emotional pop music has been around to comfort teenagers considering themselves outsiders for several decades now, and has branched into many different sub-genres. For fans of love songs and breakup songs sung over infectious pop guitar rhythms, Mariana’s Trench put on quite the show. They have been making music for over a decade now, and after seeing their live show I can say that they are making a case to get emo-pop back onto the popular radio airwaves.

Josh Ramsay is magnetic, and energetic, frenetically owning the stage like the heartthrob he portrays in his songs.  Though the band is comprised of four white males, they seem to have a strong connection to individuals who feel marginalized by society, the outsiders. Ramsay sings for those in the back of the choir room that believed deep down that they could command a stadium headlining show, or the band nerd who felt they could rock the stage all by themselves.

The band put on an excellent set with multiple high energy encores and guitar solo breakdowns. Josh Ramsay is a strong performer, he knows how to get the crowd not only on his side but also into participating in the singing themselves.
