Julian Casablancas’ cover of The Velvet Underground’s “Run Run Run” for the soundtrack of HBO’s new series Vinyl has surfaced online. The track is actually pretty similar to the original, with a notable difference in the increased liveliness of the bass line on this new JC version.
The cover is a fitting one for two ways, as it is the perfect song for the series from Martin Scorsese and The Rolling Stones’ lead singer Mick Jagger about New York’s music scene in the 70s, and it’s song from one of Casablancas’ personal heroes, Lou Reed.
