Sima Cunningham Announces November Residency at The Hideout

Sima Cunningham The Hideout

Every Tuesday at 9PM throughout November you’ll be able to check out Chicago stand-out artist Sima Cunningham performing at The Hideout.

For those of us “in the know,” we’ve enjoyed Sima’s music as she’s one half of HOMME and we’ve seen her play an active role in the local scene as she’s provided backing vocals for the likes of Chance The Rapper at Pitchfork Music Fest most recently as well as in previous years. Also, she’s the sister of Liam Cunningham of Marrow. All kinds of dopeness e-ve-ry-where!

Read more details on each show below.

The acclaimed singer-songwriter will be taking up residency at the Chicago club this month, kicking off that set of shows on November 3rd with Rock Paper, her trio with longtime collaborator Dorian Gehring and drummer/composer Charles Rumbach. Shoegaze outfit V.V. Lightbody, the new solo project by Vivian McConnell from Grandkids, will open.

For November 10th, she will debut new material as well as new arrangements of older works, along with her ensemble project, Something Different (Will Miller on trumpet, Myra Hinrichs on violin, Nick Mazzarella on alto sax, Charlie Kirchen on upright bass). Afro-psych trio ExtraOccular will open.

The November 17th date will serve as the official release show for the self-titled debut by HOMME, Sima’s experimental rock duo with Macie Stewart (of Marrow). The highly-anticipated project drops on November 13th via Foxhall Records. The show will feature a special dance performance choreographed by Erin Kilmurray of The Inconvenience. Keyboard/harmonium extraordinaire Ben Boye will open. (Catch us there!)

Cunningham will close out her residency on November 24th with Sima & Co., an ensemble project with her nearest and dearest family of friends (Dorian Gehring, Lane Beckstrom, Liam Kazar, Charles Rumbach, Macie Stewart, and more) Minneapolis singer-songwriter Quinn Tsan and desert-rock songstress Rachele Eve will open.
