Video: System Of A Down Perform at Riot Fest 2015 (Chicago)

Saturday night saw the much-anticipated headlining set of System Of A Down at Riot Fest Chicago. The concert was truly a tale of extremes: much of the lead-up to the band hitting the stage and the first half of the set marred by complete mayhem in the pit and the second half bringing the feeling of Rock ecstasy. I was in the pit where fans were practically passing out from the pushing, the body heat that came with absolutely no room for personal space, and the constant rocking from side to side in that horribly-smelling mud. At some point I was brought down in the wave of people that were all on the ground having gotten trampled, and I feared I’d be among the people that had to receive help and be taken away by security to receive some medical attention.

But I stuck through it, and with mud covering my Chucks and pants, I finished the show. Once I went back a couple of rows behind the people moshing, it was actually still a damn good view to see the band perform hits like “Lonely Day,” “Chop Suey!” (below) and “Toxicity” (above).

See the super shaky footage of the band performing their signature hit “Chop Suey!” below.
