This album/mixtape started as a rumor and to my surprise it actually turned out to be true. There were fake album covers made and everything. Drake and Future teaming up for a full project is a pretty big moment in Hip Hop since they are arguably the two of the biggest and hottest artists so far this year. With sales projections at around 500k in its opening week, it will go down as one of the highest selling albums of the year. Metro Boomin definitely won with this one. Below, we have listed our 5 favorite songs on What A Time To Be Alive.

“Big Rings”

Drake and Future have received their fair share of radio play these last few years, so them teaming up for a full project means you will hearing a lot more of them in the near future. “Big Rings” should be the front runner to get a good amount of spins. It also helps that Future drops some not-so-subliminal shots in his verse. It has received the attention that I’m sure they were looking for.

“Live From The Gutter”

With a title like “Live From The Gutter,” you have a type of instrumental that pops up in your mind and Metro Boomin cooked up just that. Boi-1da also had his hands on production duties for this track. Also, Drake just won’t leave Breezy alone, huh?

“Diamonds Dancing”

This track stands out on WATTBA project and that not a bad thing. Metro Boomin once again provides some hard hitting production, but Drake and Future decide to sing a bit more on this than the rest of the project. Also, I’m not mad at Drake for doing his best Kid Cudi impression at around the 1:10 mark.

“I’m The Plug”

Throughout the entire project, Drake and Future take turns with hook duties. On some songs, one artist provides a single verse while the other artist does the rest of the heavy lifting. One of my favorite verses on the entire project comes from Drake on “I’m On The Plug,” which is his only contribution to the song. He definitely goes in on this one.

“Jumpman”

The Jordan brand doesn’t really need commercials to sell their products, they basically sell themselves and in large amounts. Nike will still put together some ads for their products with some background music in it and if that music isn’t “Jumpman,”then something is really wrong. Ye needs to make an Adidas song asap.
