Last night saw the end of an era with the final episode of Late Show with David Letterman. The farewell episode aired on Wednesday night and for his final sendoff, Letterman chose his favorite band to play his favorite song.

The Foo Fighters performed their classic track “Everlong,” serving as the (perfect) score to a montage of some of the best moments in the history of Letterman and of the comedian’s 33-year career on “late night.” The “David Letterman Highlights” included every kind of major guest that Letterman has interviewed or has had as musical guests including Presidents (Carter, Bush, Clinton, and Obama), comedians (Bill Murray, Andy Kauffman, Gilda Radner, Jay Leno), actors (Tom Hanks, Paul Newman, Michael Keaton) and musicians (Foo Fighters, KISS, Kanye) plus every famous comedic moment/remote in between. It was glorious and for anyone who got to revisit those famous moments they saw way back when would instantly get a knot in their throat.

Check that out above and see Letterman’s final “Thank You and Good Night” below. #ThanksDave.
