Recap: Mystikal Live at Reggie’s for Fake Shore Drive X Red Bull Sound Select

Last night saw yet another dope presentation from Red Bull Sound Select and Fake Shore Drive featuring Martin $ky, Tree Crack (Tree + Chris Crack), and a headlining set by Mystikal. The show as a whole was an excellent example of what a night of Hip Hop in Chicago should be like: drinks pouring, DJs Spin, Oreo, and Professor Finesser playing all the right tracks to keep the crowd moving, and a lineup that delivered on every front from beginning to end.

Martin $ky set the bar high for the rest of the night by kicking off his set on top of the bar in the back of the room. $ky showed just why he’s turning heads these days with a cool performance of “Pearl Gawd” and then bringing out Saba for their collaboration, “Reach.” Next up were Tree Crack, the duo made up of MC Tree and Chris Crack, and these guys didn’t hold back either. While not as lively as the opener, Tree Crack let their rhymes bring the noise and their set showcased all of their best individual work as well as their collaborative highlights. Whenever you see these guys on the bill, you’re guaranteed a good show.

Finally up was the man of the hour, Mystikal. This appearance was a triumphant return from the veteran rapper, who was performing before a crowd of all types of differing demographics; a nod to the man’s influence across generations. The room was lit thanks to performances of hit songs like  “Danger,” “Shake Ya Ass,” and his new hit with Mark Ronson, “Feel Right.” Needless to say, he’s still got it!

Shout out to Red Bull Sound Select, Fake Shore Drive (and the dopest Wilkins since Dominique, Ernest Wilkins). See video and some select pics below.
