POD Exclusive Interview: Adam Reverie

Adam Reverie
Adam Reverie is an artist from Detroit that we have been championing for some years now. He has already compiled an impressive body of work, but is already working on follow up projects. Recently, Adam took some time out of his day to talk to us about new projects, his brief departure from music and more. Get to know a little bit more about Adam in our interview with the emcee after the jump.

Hey Adam, thanks for taking time out of your day to talk to us. We want to kick things off by asking you about your brief departure from music last June. Is there anything that inspired you to start making music again?

Rev: No problem, I feel blessed you’d be willing to interview me. My inspiration to return to music came from reading, writing poetry and uplifting words from fans and friends encouraging me to continue making music.

Who are some of your musical influences? Any dream collaborations?

Rev: I’m influenced by a lot of 80’s and 90’s R&B Babyface, Sade and a plethora of others from that era. As far as Hip-Hop goes Tupac, Kanye, Common, Nas and Andre 3000 have influenced me heavily.

How much time do you spend on rehearsing your live show? Do you have plans on making a trip down to SXSW this year?

Rev: I’m a father first and I work 10-13hrs a day so I’m not at a point in my career currently where I can rehearse as much as I’d like, but when prepping for a show I’m usually rehearsing for 2-3 weeks in advance depending on the proximity. I had plans to perform at SXSW this year but…life lol.

Your video for “Need A Moment” is one of our favorite videos to drop this year. Can we expect anymore visuals for songs off of ‘Father Song Brother Friend’?

Rev: Thank you, that means a lot to me! And yes I have two more visuals from FSBF that I’ll be releasing this year that i’m excited to get to the public.

What is your favorite song off of the ‘Father Son Brother Friend’ project?

Rev: Hands down ‘Testify’ I’ve come so far from the person I described in that song and I’m proud of who it is I’m becoming.

Do you plan on starting to work on the next project anytime soon?

Rev: Actually I have an album that I finished this past December I’m excited about..it’s very powerful my best work to date.

Finally, what are 3 essential Adam Reverie songs for some of our readers who haven’t given you a listen yet.

Rev: ‘Testify’, ‘Black Boy Out In Poverty’ and ‘Sin Sometime’…those all represent different sides of me and show my diversity.
