I don’t really know how to explain this song as I have no real point of reference… But I love it. Four Tet has connected with British drummer Emanative (Nick Woodmansey) for a cover of the Don Cherry and Ed Blackwell 1982 single “Makondi” and the results are just mesmerizing.
It blends tribal elements with the original Jazz components for something that just finds its nook in your brain and plants its flag there. It’s brilliant and you should hear it below.
