Last night saw the end of an era with the farewell of the always-hilarious political satire show The Colbert Report. Such a momentous occasion needed an epic send-off and it got it with a star-filled cast that sang along of Vera Lynn’s “We’ll Meet Again” with host Stephen Colbert. The song was set-up after Colbert “gained immortality” with the death of the Grim Reaper, so as Colbert leaves his desk one last time he is met by Jon Stewart to sing by Randy Newman on piano.

That’s when the stars come out to help say goodbye to the show. Among those singing the tear-jerking tune were Bryan Cranston, Willie Nelson, Tom Brokaw, Neil deGrasse Tyson, Jeff Daniels, Keith Olbermann, Big Bird, the Cars’ Ric Ocasek, Katie Couric, Michael Stipe, Jeff Tweedy, James Franco and Cookie Monster. To name a few!

If this doesn’t bring you to tears (or at least almost there) you missed out on almost a decade of loving this show. See the performance above.
