POD Exclusive Interview – ShowYouSuck

ShowYouSuck

We recently sat down with long-time POD favorite ShowYouSuck to finally get an interview that was long overdue. Show is coming off a highlight-filled 2014 that saw him tour Europe and play the massive, critically-acclaimed festival Riot Fest.

To cap off the big year, Show will be having his homecoming show tomorrow night 12/13/14 at Sub T. As you prepare for that free pizza party, read our interview with the raddest DudeBro we know, below.

How was your tour through Europe? Any special anecdotes from your time there?

It was cool. Just the fact itself of going to Europe to do music is really cool. It was the same struggle of touring as an up-and-coming musician in the States. Like “how do you get people to the venue?” The whole thing of performing for people that had never heard you before. Figuring out where to eat… It was exactly the same as touring in the States.

We had a few festival dates that were awesome, like super packed and a lot of the shows at venues were like your typical shows for up-and-comers. The people who showed up were really intuitive and super into it; there were a few who knew the material which was super rad.

I’m more so excited to go for a second time with a better set-up. We can properly introduce ourselves to the European market.

How does the pizza compare in Europe?

I had one pizza in Marseilles, FRA that was alright. It didn’t taste very different from the pizza you’d have out here; it was one of those brick oven pizzas so it tasted just like if one would if it was from here.

Actually I did have a “regular” pizza out there too, I had Domino’s! Their sausage is way more awesome. I also had a regular pepperoni pizza from this hole-in-the-wall place that was alright. The Domino’s pizza was the best I had out there.

Any good shows out there?

I played a show with Travis Scott, B-Real, Xzibit and DMX, which was like the craziest shit ever! I got to catch a couple of Punk bands on an off night in France too.

How was Riot Fest? Did you catch any good performances out there?

Riot fest was amazing! My set went perfect and the crowd was insane. My favorite shows were Mastadon, Weezer and Mighty Mighty Bosstones

Slide Musica Visual Magazine in Mexico put you on the cover recently. What do you think about how your music is starting to reach out to greater latitudes and even transcend language?

It’s the weirdest thing ever because my music hasn’t even come close to completely reaching the States, It’s like I skipped a whole step ya know? It’s rad as hell tho, I’m stoked people identify with the culture

Your song “80’s Boobs” references Jessica Lange, Lisa Bonet, Fast Times (Phoebe Cates). So, who’s got the best 80’s boobs?

I’d say Jaime Lee Curtis.

Who’s your favorite Ninja Turtle?

Raphael for life.

What are your 3 favorite concerts ever?

3 6 Mafia (DJ Paul & Juicy J) at the Metro, Every time i Die at Bottom Lounge, and DMX in France.

What’s a song you’d like to recommend to our readers?

I’d say “Mild Sauce,” I feel like that song got overlooked.

What are your plans for 2015 and what can you tell us about the new project?

I plan on shooting a bunch of cool stuff, doing bigger shows, and I’m working on OMPP5, its almost done. It’s just a bunch of awesome sounding songs, no real theme or sound.
