There is no question that Bodega Bamz has been making noise for some time now. We were first introduced to Bodega with his Strictly 4 My P.A.P.I.Z two years ago. Ever since first hearing “Don Francisco” we’ve been tuning in to whatever is dropped from the TanBoys representative. Recently, Bamz let the world know about his partnership with Duck Down Music as well as his upcoming project entitled Sidewalk Exec. We were lucky enough to get some time to speak to Bodega Bamz about his time when he stopped by the Chi, his upcoming album and much more. Check out the interview below.

POD: You stopped by and performed at Reggie’s in Chicago along with Flatbush Zombies in October of 2013. What was that experience like? Describe the BETTEROFFDEAD Tour in one word. How was it like touring with Flatbush Zombies for the BETTEROFFDEAD Tour?

BB: That was actually my first time in Chicago. The experience was fire. Touring with the Zombies was a huge blessing and huge accomplishment. The BETTEROFFDEAD Tour was “Historic” for the first time in my life I was able to visit over 30 states, not having to sell drugs. A lot of people doubted us. People didn’t think two New York underground Artist/Groups would have a successful tour and sell out shows across USA. We proved a lot of people wrong.

POD: This partnership with Duck Down Records is huge. How did the partnership with Duck Down Records come about?

BB: Through the grace of God. Duck Down was one of the first labels, indie or mainstream to holla at me a few years ago. Dru Ha is a genuine human being, he made me feel comfortable doing business with him. I’m excited to embark on this legendary journey with Duck Down.

POD: Speak about how the name of Sidewalk Exec came about.

BB: Sidewalk Exec has been in the works even before I released Strictly 4 My P.A.P.I.Z that mixtape was done in 4 months. Sidewalk Exec has been worked on for the past 3 years. It was actually supposed to be my debut but because of the climate of music and the sound at the time, I decided to work on Strictly 4 My P.A.P.I.Z instead and released it first. Now we back. I created the term because everyone calls themselves the connect and the drug dealer, hustler, plug and always tells the story of the drugs they buy & sell. But nobody has told the story of the supplier. Everybody say they come see PAPI for the brick, but who is actually PAPI? Im supplying the game. I already gave ya PAPI, now let’s get more deeper. Sidewalk Exec.

POD: In the Latino community, Don Francisco is THE man. What was the thought process of coming up with the “Don Francisco” track?

BB: Just to raise the awareness of who Don Francisco is to the younger generation and other nationalities. Just wanted to pay homage to a true Latin icon.

POD: Describe your process when recording. Is there anything that you do to get you in that “zone” before you walk into the booth?

BB: I close out everything that’s going on in the outside world. I bring creative minds into the session. Drink Hennessy, and just enjoy the moment. That’s where I talk most my shit where I feel like I’m the best. No matter what I’m going thru my studio is my sanctuary. but I always need to be in the right state of mind when I’m there, because if not, then the session will be trash, and the music will be trash as well.

POD: Thank you so much for your time. We’ll definitely be around to kick it next time you are in the Chi.

BB: 100KEEPIT def can’t wait to be back in Chicago
