Sir Sly – “Afterlife” (Arcade Fire Cover)

Sir Sly - Afterlife (Arcade Fire Cover)

Buried in our emails, we kind of missed the train on being one of the first to post this but it’s getting on here anyways. Sir Sly is set to drop their debut album next week and as they geared up for its release they shared with their fans something another band created that they liked. The LA-based group did their rendition of “Afterlife,” one of the best tracks from Arcade Fire’s latest.

Talking about why they covered “Afterlife,” lead vocalist and songwriter Landon Jacobs said:

“‘Afterlife’ is one of my favorite songs. The original song is so upbeat, but the lyrics are very morose, so I always wanted to hear what it would be like to slow the song down a bit and really dive into the darkness at the center. The song came together really quickly once Hayden had the idea to use the triplet beat in the chorus and Jason played that arpeggiating synth at the end.
