Trailer – ‘Rosewater’ (Jon Stewart’s Directorial Debut Film)

John Stewart has long been one of the major political satirists on the small screen but last summer he stepped away from The Daily Show to direct his first film. The film is titled Rosewater and it tells the true story of a journalist, Maziar Bahari (played by Gael Garcia Bernal), who ends up getting arrested while covering the 2009 Iranian presidential elections and is mistreated while being brutally interrogated by a man who smelled like rose water.

The images in this trailer are drenched in drama with images of how tough the situation was for Bahari while he was under custody.

Rosewater will premiere at the Telluride Film Festival and the Toronto Film Festival, and it hits theaters November 7th.
