Top 10 Artists to Watch at Soundset 2014

Soundset 2014We are less than a week away from making a trip up to Minnesota, Shakopee to be exact, for this years Soundset Festival. You can always count on Soundset to put together a great lineup and this year is no different. There are legends, superstars, rising superstars and those right under them trying to make a name for themselves. We have listed the top 10 artists we’re looking forward to seeing at this years fest below. Interested in taking a road trip to Soundset? Tickets are still available here.

Chance The Rapper

The lone Chicago representative on the main stage this year is none other than Chance The Rapper. We have seen Chano perform a dozens times and have seen him make the transition from performing in front of less than a hundred people at Beauty Bar to performing in front of thousands at Lollapalooza. This will be our first time seeing him perform outside of Chicago and we are very excited.

Snow Tha Product

Snow Tha Product has been making a lot of noise as of late and we’re really psyched to see her perform live. She’s fresh off of her “F#*k Your Plans, Come Kick It” tour which she completely rocked. The lovely Cali native is definitely an act that we won’t be missing come Sunday.

Grieves

Grieves was the last artist we watched perform at SXSW this year. He had a pretty dope set despite only performing around 5-6 songs. It was pretty late into the night (around 2am), but he kept the crowd involved throughout his set which made it that more enjoyable. We will be looking forward to seeing the Seattle native performing in front of festival crowd this upcoming Sunday.

Pusha T

Pusha T dropped one of my favorite albums of last year with My Name Is My Name. We haven’t seen Push perform live in quite some time and we missed his set at SXSW this year, so we’re looking forward to his set at Soundset. Pusha T has plenty of material to work with and with Tyler The Creator also in attendance, we may get to see them perform “Trouble On My Mind.” That would be pretty awesome.

Cypress Hill

There’s never a dull moment when Cypress Hill hits the stage. It looks like Soundset will be their last stop before they hit Canada, so make sure to be present for their show with a few medicinals in hand. The legendary group is sure to rock the crowd with their huge selection of “joints’.

Ab-Soul

Ab-Soul is the lone TDE artist at Soundset this year and with his new project These Days getting a release date, he will surely be performing some new joints for the Soundset crowd. Soulo has a great live and he definitely showed it when we saw him at Peter Rosenberg’s SXSW party earlier this year. His performance of “Druggys Wit Hoes” was crazy. Definitely looking forward to that.

DJ QBert

The DMC Hall of Fame member, DJ QBert is an act that can’t be missed on Sunday. QBert has been all around the world and is considered a legend to those within the craft. For those that are heavily into the art, DJ QBert is a can’t miss. Be sure to a pen and paper to his set, as we’re sure he’ll be putting up a proper clinic.

EarlWolf (Earl Sweatshirt & Tyler, The Creator)

Odd Future’s two frontman Tyler, The Creator and Earl Sweatshirt will be hitting the stage together at Soundset as EarlWolf. They have dope live sets individually, but when they hit the stage together, it’s a whole other world. Don’t believe us? Check out a clip we were able to capture at SXSW this year. It will interesting to see how the crazy the crowd gets during their set.

Atmosphere

It’s not Soundset without the presence of Atmosphere. With the recent release of Southsiders it’s pretty accurate that Atmosphere will be giving us a lot of new material for their show with the addition of some older goodies. Last time we were present at Soundset, Atmosphere received the biggest ovation and reaction from the crowd. We expect nothing less again this time around.
