It may be a long time since the legendary Led Zeppelin last put out new material but the announcement that this year will see the band’s first 3 albums will be re-released (June 3rd) as deluxe, remastered box sets with previously unheard mixes and live versions of songs as well as one unreleased tune is enough to get excited about them again.
Today we get a taste of what’s to come in the deluxe edition of Led Zeppelin II with an alternate mix of the iconic track, “Whole Lotta Love.” The riff remains intact but Plant’s vocals (not so much the lyrics) are largely different from how they’re laid down on the original and let’s not ignore the exclusion of the guitar solo. Still, it’s interesting to hear.
