MiC Kurb has been on our radar since August 2012 and in early 2014, things are looking up for Kurb and his ASF crew. MiC just released his latest project, Destination Nowhere. The 6-track EP is definitely worth a listen. My favorite track off of the EP at moment is “Speak My Mind” featuring fellow ASF rep, Dom McLennon. We hit up MiC to talk about the new project, his early influences, SXSW, ASF and more. Check out our interview with the Connecticut emcee after the jump.

Yeah, definitely. There’s a lot more artists out here. Plus, there’s a lot of different things to write about and be inspired by. So yeah, naturally the sound has altered a bit. If anything, I’m tapping more into my Mos Def influence.
Oneluv. Solely because I had a hand in the production. I actually brought a rough draft of the beat to Dom McLennon and he helped me jazz it up a bit. But having my own touch on the beat helped my writing a lot. I felt like I made a song, ya know?

It was solid. Solidifying your connections is always a priority. And in the process…I had a lot of fun. Being in the same household as all of the cats in ASF is something I can’t even describe. There’s this energy in the room. I had the chance to sit down and make music with dudes I’m normally several states away from. So all in all SXSW was positive, like it needed to be.
More collaborations between our members. More tracks where you can say, “alright, this is AliveSinceForever”. Better music, more consistent drops, doper videos. I get the feeling that at any moment, one of us could pop. The next 6 months should be tight.
