adidas Launch World’s First Knitted Boot: The Samba Primeknit

adidas Samba Primeknit

German sportswear icons, adidas, has announced that they have crafted the world’s first knitted boot: the Samba Primeknit. The colors knit together follow the same scheme that is applied to a lot of the new Sambas. To help with the launch, adidas has called on Uruguay international, Luis Suarez.

I’m personally a fan of lighter soccer boots, so I’d love to see how these feel and how well one can play with knitted shoes over leather.

According to adidas’ news release:

The introduction of primeknit marks the latest chapter in a rich history of revolutionary adidas football products and further cements primeknit as one of the key technologies at the heart of adidas innovation.

New levels of flexibility and comfort are provided by the one-piece knitted upper of the boot and the yarns used to construct primeknit provide stability and strength equal to conventional boots. Each yarn receives a high precision coating that guarantees water resistance even in the most challenging conditions.
