Recap: Freddie Gibbs Live at Reggie’s Rock Club Chicago

Lasso.Fm put together a great show this past Friday at Reggie’s Rock Club here in Chicago.  The night was filled with some very good performances by opening acts ShowYouSuck, Alex Wiley and Boldy James.  The headliner of the night, Freddie Gibbs, didn’t fare so badly himself.

We walked into Reggie’s Rock Club right before the host of the night, Dozer, introduced ShowYouSuck to the stage.  Show was the second opening act and performed a short set before having to hit the road to join Yelawolf’s Slumerican Tour. Show still put on a hell of a show with the help of Auggie The 9th despite only performing some 5 songs. He ran through some tracks like “John Waters,” “Hunter Hearst Helmsley,” and “All Based Everything” before bringing Treated Crew to the front of the stage to perform “LL Cool.”

Alex Wiley hit the stage right after ShowYouSuck accompanied by Kembe X and Calez. Wiley wasted no time and went straight into an excellent live rendition of his track “Mo Purp.” He then proceeded to perform a track with Kembe X that had just been made a week prior. Calez also got to perform a song alongside Alex Wiley as well before the last opening act of the night, Boldy James, hit the stage. Detroit native Boldy James performed a 30-minute set with many people in the crowd rapping along to every word for the entire set.

Freddie Gibbs, the headliner of the night, went straight into the opening track off of his recently released project, Baby Face Killa, as soon as he hit the stage. The night was filled with performances of many tracks off of that project including very dope performance of “Bout It, Bout It.” Freddie Gibbs also performed tracks off of Cold Day In Hell, his first project released after joining Young Jeezy’s CTE crew last year. Freddie showed love to Chicago by rocking a Treated Crown and bringing out Chicago artists Budda Da Prince and Chella H to perform songs for the packed crowd. Freddie Gibbs ended the night by performing “Money, Clothes, Hoes,” one of the standout tracks off of BFK. Huge shout out to lasso.fm for putting together a great show. We hope its only the first of many.
